The first Rebel Moon clip has arrived, showcasing Zack Snyder‘s epic sci-fi war movie. The famous director moved to Netflix some years ago, starting a fruitful partnership that allowed Snyder to realize one of his long-held goals.
Rebel Moon is a new sci-fi franchise based on Snyder’s initial proposal for a Seven Samurai-style Star Wars picture, which Lucasfilm declined to make. So instead, he reworked the idea to create a new universe.

Rebel Moon First Look Revealed
Snyder had previously posted some behind-the-scenes photos and concept art, but this is the first official look at the movie. Rebel Moon started filming in April of last year and finished in December. Boutella’s character is crouched and alert in the new image. A closer view reveals a ring on her finger, and she looks to be wearing a raggedy robe. The background is obstructed, but she’s indoors in what appears to be a workshop of some kind.
We get our first glimpse at Sofia Boutella’s starring role in the teaser image. We also have a fascinating sneak peek at a video where Charlie Hunnam pulls his gun, and Djimon Hounsou’s character rallies the guys for a fight.
While the Rebel Moon clip is light on specifics about the movie, there has been plenty of details revealed about Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic. The plot centers around Sofia Boutella’s role in Kora, a young lady who becomes a pivotal figure in the pursuit of a wicked intergalactic leader.
As Rebel Moon was initially planned to be a Star Wars movie, what was most likely a variant of the Empire has been replaced with an oppressive force led by Balisarius, played by Ed Skrein. Djimon Hounsou’s character leads the army.

Ed Skrein as Balisarius, Corey Stoll, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, and more round up the cast of Rebel Moon. Anthony Hopkins is the voice of a robot that protected the former King. Zack Snyder began filming the film in April 2022 and finished it in December 2022.
The reason for the long shot is not related to production issues but instead to Netflix and Snyder’s aspirations to expand Rebel Moon. The film’s new release date of December 2023 reveals that Netflix has huge intentions for Snyder’s sci-fi series.
If Rebel Moon is as successful as Netflix and Zack Snyder hope, the franchise might go far beyond its current two-film plan.
