Scream 6 First Look Revealed Ghostface Chases Jenna Ortega

It’s about that time to scream as Ghostface is bringing New York to the big screen. But this round, it’s a “different” Ghostface on a murder spree with a knife. On January 19, 2023, Paramount Pictures released the Scream 6 trailer, promising tremendous jump-scare horror.

Unfortunately, the exciting trailer creates an ominous mood as viewers are led on a harrowing trip.

The images are from Entertainment Weekly and provide a first look at numerous new and returning characters.

Sisters Sam (Melissa Barrera) & Tara (Jenna Ortega) Carpenter, who survived the previous movie, leave Woodsboro to begin a fresh start in New York City in Scream 6. But, of course, Ghostface is just a little behind. “This isn’t like any other Ghostface,” says the trailer.

First, Ghostface’s distinctive mask is more worn than in previous versions. It’s similar to the grungy look of Michael Myers’ mask in the 2018 revival of the Halloween franchise by filmmaker David Gordon Green.

The trailer begins with Sam and Tara getting chased by Ghostface inside a bodega, where at the end of the sequence, the iconic murderer has gotten their paws on a shotgun, which he uses to kill the shop’s owner. Ghostface armed with a gun? That’s an odd twist, given that the killer’s weapon of choice is typically a knife (In earlier films, Ghostface has used a gun previously, but only after he has been unmasked to reveal their actual identity).

“I have this secret,” Sam adds in the trailer. “There’s darkness within me. It followed me here. And it’ll keep coming for us.”

Kirby Reed, who survived Scream 4, understands what Sam is talking about. She reprises her part in the forthcoming sequel, telling Sam and Tara that they “have a certain history.”Later in the trailer, Tara has the perfect solution to rid themselves of Ghostface once and for all: “We execute him,” she adds.

It’s easier said than done, especially when the Scream movies have earned $745 million at the box office since 1996. Ghostface will likely be around for a few years after this new revival.

When Scream 6 reaches cinemas on March 10, 2023, we’ll see how close Sam and Tara can get this time.

Ortega, Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding return after first appearing in Scream 2022. (aka Scream 5). In addition, Jack Champion (Spider in Avatar: The Way of Water), Samara Weaving (the main in the horror comedy Ready or Not), Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, and Josh Segarra are among the new cast members.

Neve Campbell, the original Scream, dropped out on the sixth installment due to pay.
