Netflix has revealed the official clip and release date for their new documentary series based on the most notable African Queens: Njinga, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Africans Queens is produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and streamed by Netflix globally, bringing to life the various female powerhouses that impacted post-colonial Africa. The series begins on February 15 with Angola’s Queen Nzinga. The show has been renewed for two seasons and will feature four 45-minute episodes that mix drama with factual recounts from historians.

Pinkett Smith narrates the docuseries, which Peres Owino and NneNne Iwuji wrote. The streamer ordered the series last August for two seasons, with Njinga & Cleopatra as the subjects.

Each season will consist of four 45-minute episodes that will include expert interviews, other documentary content, and premium scripted docudrama/re-enactments. “As the mother of a young Black lady, it is incredibly essential to me that she learns the teachings of the African Queens who paved the path for our achievements and the success of generations of Black women,” Jada Smith previously said in an official statement.
