Who is Sam Richardson? Shaggy’s Voice Artist In Velma.

HBO is all set to release its upcoming animated series, Velma. It’s an adult comedy-mystery tv series. Shaggy, a character in the series, will be voiced by African American Sam Richardson.

The star cast that will be giving their voices in the upcoming Velma is as big as it can be. There’s Mindy Kaling as Velma Dinkley, Sam Richardson as Norville Rogers a.k.a Shaggy, Constance Wu as Daphne Blake, and Glenn Howerton as Fred Jones.

Although, questions were raised when fans realized that Scooby-Doo is missing from the series the production team clarified everything regarding that. It was done pretty soon to avoid causing havoc which will definitely hamper the success of Velma.

Sam Richardon is an American actor, comedian, producer, and even a writer. The list is endless. He took birth in Detroit on January 12, 1984.

When it comes to his family, Sam’s mother comes from Ghana and his father is African American. Talking about fame in his family, he is related to the late Barbara-Rose Collins. In 1990, she was the first black woman to get elected to the United States Congress.

Sam started his career as a stand-up comedian. He did show at Second City in Detroit. He also performed in Chicago. Afterward, he decided to move to Los Angeles, California.

There he got the opportunity to be a part of the popular mockumentary, The Office by appearing in a couple of episodes. Sam also made his appearance in shows like Arrested Development, Drunk History, New Girl, Teachers, and Harder Than It Looks.

Sam then became a major part of HBO’s Veep. He also appeared in many major movies such as We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses 2, Spy, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Mike, and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Ghostbusters. He also was a part of The Conan Show during their trip to Ghana.

Sam was also a co-creator of Detroiters with Tim Robinson. The show was aired on Comedy Central in 2015. The show shows both of them as the main characters who are failed tv commercial makers trying to make local advertisements.

But, due to various reasons, the show was unable to become a big hit and was canceled by Comedy Central after airing two seasons.

Sam’s Achievements

Talking about Sam’s achievements, he received the nomination for “Best Performance” which was for his work on Second City Project at the Canadian Screen Awards.

He won the award for “Outstanding Performance” at Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2018 after getting a nomination in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
