Top 10 Shows Like Itaewon Class, While You Wait for Season 2

Published by

Itaewon Class revolves around an ex-con and his companions battling to make their big plans for their neighborhood bar a reality. Because season 2 is taking such a long time, we have compiled a list that is fairly similar to Itaewon Class.

Here is the list of Top 10 Shows Like Itaewon Class, while you are waiting for Season 2 of the series.

1. Hot Stove League

Soompi

The ‘Dreams,’ a squad in full chaos, are at the core of this drama. Power conflicts and boardroom wrangling split the team. There’s also a hierarchy at work, as well as a megalomaniacal star player. Unfortunately, it is entirely up to potential manager Seung-Soo to attempt to reverse their fate.

The drama blends a serialized style to its overall narrative, with episodic chapters peppered in assist discover how the different participants, with right-hand lady Se-Young by his side.

2. Extracurricular

Netflix

The plot centers around Ji-Soo, who is regarded as an exemplary student by both professors and fellow pupils. He keeps his eyes down, has no friends, and spends most of his days studying and becoming inconspicuous.

This one is well-written and interesting, plus it’s also available on Netflix.

3. My Strange Hero

IMDb

My Strange Hero is a great place to find anything similar to Itaewon Class’ tale. This Korean drama follows Kang Bok Soo, a high school student who is wrongly accused of violence and expelled.

My Strange Hero is very well crafted and fits neatly within the feel-good rom-com category.

4. Fight for My Way

Dramabeans

Fight For My Way is a show about pursuing your aspirations and achieving greatness. In that regard, this Korean drama certainly bears similarities to Itaewon Class. It also brilliantly conveys this conflict via its two main protagonists, Ko Dong-Man and Choi Ae-Ra.

There’s a great life lesson about following your aspirations here, as well as some amusing moments, making this an excellent placement on the list.

5. Reply 1988

Netflix

Reply 1988, widely considered one of the finest slice-of-life Korean dramas, is a trip down memory lane. A vacation to the 1980s, to be exact. Reply 1988 fits in perfectly with other plays of its genre, adopting a lighthearted, breezy tone but finding power in its characters, all of whom are well-developed and have many emotional moments.

This 20-episode series is divided into feature-length episodes and follows a dozen or so individuals from 1988 to 1994. It has been recognized as one of the more authentic renderings of Korean life. Throughout the season, there is a mix of romance, humor, and drama.

6. Mad Men

Vox

Mad Men is a series centered on one of New York’s most prominent advertising businesses. Set in the 1960s, the majority of the plot centers on skilled advertising executive Donald Draper at work.

This seems like a formula for boredom, yet despite a sluggish start, the show manages to combine comedy and drama brilliantly over the course of seven seasons.

Part historical drama, half slice of reality cast, Mad Men is a gripping and well-written series that even has a satisfying finish, making for a satisfying journey.

7. Empire

IMDb

Empire is a show about a hip-hop tycoon who is forced to choose a successor from among his three kids, all of whom are fighting for control of his multi-million-dollar corporation. Meanwhile, his ex-wife plots to retrieve what is rightfully hers.

It’s an intriguing setup that, like Billions, lays the stage for some excellent drama to follow. However, be warned that this is yet another drama that loses its direction in the later seasons. Earlier on, this musically packed sitcom strikes all the right notes, making it worth watching.

8. Start-Up

Netflix

Start-Up is a Korean show about ambitious entrepreneurs who want to start their own firms. It’s a series that successfully combines just enough romance and comedy to keep it from devolving into full-on melodrama. To begin with, at any rate.

At work, there is sibling rivalry, a lingering love triangle, and significant second-lead syndrome. The conclusion is quite subjective, making it difficult to suggest, but given how divided the community is on this one, it’s interesting to check out to see what all the buzz is about!

9. Girlboss

Netflix

Girlboss is a lighthearted romp about the fashion business partially based on the actual tale of Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso.
It’s a basic, breezy show, and with 13 episodes lasting about 30 minutes or so, it’s a relatively short watch in comparison to Itaewon Class.

10. Billions

TVLine

Go no further for fierce rivalries like those between Sae-Ro-Yi and Dae-Hee. Billions is a Western melodrama centered on US Attorney Chuck Rhoades. In a major conflict between 2 New York figures, he sets his eyes on hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod.

While later seasons lose track of what made this first competition so fascinating, the first two seasons do a fantastic job of depicting the ups and downs of Stock Market trading.
