Butler also extended his gratitude to Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley, who were present at the Tuesday night ceremony. Butler portrays Presley over the course of the epic musical biopic. Butler’s performance started to gain notice for accolades after its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

Butler received his first Golden Globe nomination at that time. Along with Butler, Hugh Jackman (The Son), Bill Nighy (Living), Jeremy Pope (The Inspection), and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) were nominated in this category.
