Jeon Somi’s ‘XOXO’ Hits 100 Million Views.

The South Korean and Canadian singer, rapper, and dancer, Jeon Somi’s ‘XOXO’ has finally passed 100 million views. Somi is one of the members of the girl group I.O.I. On June 13, 2019, Somi debuted as a solo artist with the single ‘Birthday’. In 2021, she also released her first studio album XOXO.

The music video of ‘XOXO’ by Jeon Somi on December 28, approximately at 11:30 a.m. KST surpassed 100 million views. The debut studio album, XOXO was released on October 29, 2021.

Five singles—”Birthday,” “What You Waiting For,” “Dumb Dumb,” “XOXO,” and “Anymore”—were released along with the album, which has eight songs in total. Giriboy, a rapper and singer from South Korea, makes a cameo appearance in the album.

XOXO is Jeon Somi’s third music video to cross 100 million views on YouTube. Other music videos that have surpassed 100 million views include “DUMB DUMB” and “BIRTHDAY”.

The South Korean girl group I.O.I. of which Somi is a part, was formed through the reality show Produce 101 in 2016. On August 9, Jeon was added to an I.O.I sub-unit with six other members.

“Whatta Man,” a single by the sub-unit, debuted at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart. With the single on SBS MTV’s The Show, Jeon and her bandmates won their first music competition. With “What You Waiting For” on Mnet’s M Countdown, Jeon earned her first music show trophy on August 6, 2020.

The Blue House invited Jeon to attend the celebration of the 102nd anniversary of the Korean Declaration of Independence on March 1, 2021. She performed a totally Korean-language reading of the March 1st Declaration of Independence with descendants of international activists.

The Blue House acknowledged that they chose Jeon as a multicultural ambassador because of her fame as an idol who popularized Korean content all over the world. She also made her debut on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with “Dumb Dumb,” which debuted at number 130.

The lead song, “XOXO,” reached its highest position of 43 on the Gaon Digital Chart and entered the Billboard Global 200 at position 185.
