NCIS was produced by tv magnate Donald Bellisario and has recently been renewed for its Season 20 part 2. It follows the professional and personal lives of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Major Case Response Team out of Washington, D.C., commanded by Marine veteran Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

If you are already completely caught up on the franchise, here are 10 additional series to binge on next that are all similar in concept and format to ‘NCIS: Season 20 (Part 2)’.

The West Wing political thriller ran on NBC from 1999 to 2006, earning four Outstanding Television Drama Emmy Awards as well as several awards for its talented cast.

It follows a group of White House workers working for fictitious President Josiah “Jed” Bartlet as they attempt to maneuver the political waters in order to make the world a better place.

2. Hawaii Five-0 – 10 Seasons | IMDB: 7.4

From 2010 through 2020, CBS released a revival of the 1968 cop series, featuring Detective Steve McGarrett as he travels to Hawaii to uncover his father’s death.

He established a dedicated public health and safety task force with virtually no constraints to combat crime on the islands.

Gil Grissom and his Las Vegas criminology team employ scientific methods to investigate horrible crimes perpetrated by various criminal masterminds.

4. The Rookie – 5 Seasons | IMDB: 8.0

The Rookie portrays John Nolan, a 40-year-old man who chooses to chase his ambition of becoming a policeman in the Los Angeles Police Department.

The series is based on an actual person, William Norcross, who relocated to Los Angeles in his mid-40s to join the Los Angeles Police Department. Because the series is set in Los Angeles, prominent celebrities regularly make cameo appearances as themselves.

5. Rizzoli & Isles – 7 Seasons | IMDB: 7.6

Angie Harmon and NCIS veteran Sasha Alexander co-star as Detective Jane Rizzoli and Chief Medical Examiner Maura Isles, respectively. As a result, the series is largely a particular circumstance police procedural, although a fascinating through thread is Rizzoli’s association with serial murderer Charles Hoyt, who once abducted her and wounded her in both hands before even being shot by her then-partner Vince Korsak.

Despite the fact that he is in prison, he haunts her continually, lending seriousness to the otherwise light-hearted procedural.

JAG is an abbreviation for Judge Advocate General, and this CBS drama aired from 1995 to 2005 and followed the attorneys of the JAG firm as they investigated and tried military offenses.

David James Elliott plays former pilot Navy Commander Harmon “Harm” Rabb, and Catherine Bell plays Marine Lieutenant Colonel Sarah “Mac” MacKenzie. Bell and Elliott’s relationship adds some added emotional spark, in addition to a plunge into the realm of military offenses before NCIS was even a glint in Bellisario’s eye.

NCIS debuted as a two-part backseat pilot in the eighth season of JAG, introducing Gibbs and his squad.

7. Quantum Leap – 5 Seasons | IMDB: 8.2

Quantum Leap is not a criminal procedural; rather, it is one of Bellisario’s hits prior to JAG or NCIS. Bakula and the late Dean Stockwell play scientists who discover how to travel back in time. Bakula’s Sam Beckett begins hopping about within his own life in order to alter the past for the best, while his future crew tries to find out how to return him home.

Look past the obsolete technology to find a witty, passionate, sincere, and delightful series that fits in many eras and even touches on certain historical incidents including war and assassinations.

8. Bones – 12 Seasons | IMDB: 7.8

Bones Fox’s crime drama revolves around a forensic anthropologist who frequently collaborates with Special Agent Seeley Booth to investigate murders in Washington, D.C. from other people who have seen the work of others.

There are also overarching antagonists to ground the drama, but they also seem to inject humor into it.

9. Chicago P.D. – 10 Seasons | IMDB: 8.1

TV Series Finale

The Chicago Police Department follows police who are determined to catch criminals, even if it means breaking a few regulations. The majority of these tales are still airing on NBC, giving heart-pounding rescues and poignant instances week after week.

They also provide crossover events between their spin-offs that form epic storylines that span three hours.

10. Criminal Minds – 16 Seasons | IMDB: 8.1

For 15 seasons, this gritty procedural on CBS included a collection of FBI crime profiles known as the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Over the years, a number of prospects came and went, but the performers Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Paget Brewster, and Joe Mantegna, all of whom remained on the series for all or most of its run, gave it a wonderful cornerstone group of characters who had to balance having regular personal lives while pursuing the most dreadful and disturbing serial killers.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, two short-lived spin-offs, were also produced.
