Burning Patience is a romantic story which is based in Chile. It is about a guy named Mario, the son of a fisherman who has a keen interest in poetry.
He feels for a girl named Beatriz. Mario tries to enter the world of verses and phrases and gets the chance when he is appointed as the mailman of Isla Negra, where he meets the famous poet, Pablo Neruda.
His relationship with Pablo and the poetic world grows side by side. His attempts to get closer to Beatriz is what Burning Patience is all about.
Burning Patience is set in the year 1969. At that time, Chile was not under the dictatorship of Pinochet. Pablo Neruda is also a candidate for the presidency in the film.

Ardiente Paciencia is based on Antonio Skármeta with the same title. Netflix is not the first one to make a movie on it. There is another movie as well which is based on this novel.
It is the academy award-winning movie, Il Postino (The Postman) directed by Massimo Troisi and Michael Radford which was released in 1994. There is also a subsequent edition of the novel titled El Cartero de Neruda (Neruda’s Postman).

Production Team
Burning Patience is directed by Rodrigo Sepúlveda. Its writing credits go to Guillermo Calderón and of course to the writer of the book it is based on, Antonio Skármeta.
The film is produced by Christian Donoso, who is the executive producer, and Alejandro Wise, who is the line producer. The beautiful cinematography is done by Maura Morales Bergmann.
Release Date
Burning Patience is all set to come out on Netflix on December 7th. It will be the first Chilean film to be released on this OTT giant. The movie will be a part of the “Mar del Plata International Film Festival” for its 37th edition.
