However, it was discovered that neither the National Police Agency nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received a report of the hat as lost.

The individual removed the post once it started gaining controversy and surrendered himself to the police in the Yongin City of Gyeonggi Province.

The Korean media stated that the police said, “We charged A with embezzlement of lost articles. We have concluded investigations and A has admitted to the allegations. We are further looking into the legal basis if we should charge him with occupational embezzlement instead.”

Later on, BTS’s agency HYBE Entertainment also gave a statement that Jungkook had indeed lost his hat at that place (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). As a result of the online selling post, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a lot of criticism however, it was confirmed later on that the person who posted the article is not their employee anymore.

With BTS, Jungkook has recorded three solo songs, “Begin” in 2016, “Euphoria” in 2018, and “My Time” in 2020, all of which have reached the top 100 on the Gaon Digital Chart in South Korea.
