Mood Season 1: Everything About the Upcoming Series in BBC America

Mood Season 1 Update: ‘Superhoe’ is a one-woman play. The plot of the series revolves around a woman named Sasha Clayton. Clayton aspires to be a successful recording artist. But her dream faces a collision when she is kicked off the family after she tries to burn the house of one of her exes. As she finds herself completely alone with her barren life, she comes across an Instagram influencer and party girl named Cathy.

She teaches Sasha how to make money through social media by being popular. Following her advice Sasha finds herself increasingly popular on social media, but what about her dream? Will she be able to hang on to it?
This is a musical series a huge part of whose story is narrated by Sasha’s songs.

Nicôle Lecky-
Nicôle Lecky portrays the lead character Sasha Clayton in the musical series. Lecky previously appeared in ‘Sense8’, ‘Doctors’, ‘Death in Paradise, ‘Ackley Bridge’ etc. Her role as Sasha in this series is Lecky’s biggest role so far.

Lara Peake-
The character of the social media influencer Carly Visonz who taught Sasha to be popular in social media is portrayed by English actress Lara Peake in the series. She played the role of Cristina in the 2017 crime thriller ‘The Marker and of Danni in the 2018 action thriller Final Score’.

Peake was cast as Chrissy Anderson, a fellow student of Sam (played by Jack Rowan), in the 2017 British tv miniseries ‘Born to Kill’. In the British historical sports miniseries ‘The English Game’ she played the recurring role of Betsy Cronshaw in 2020. She also starred as the recurring character Madysun in the American sci-fi series ‘Brave New World’ the same year.

Jessica Hynes-
Laura Clayton who is Sasha’s mother is played by English actress Jessica Hynes in the series. She has been active in the career of acting since the year of 1993. Her film credits include ‘Swing Kids’, ‘The Baby of Mâcon’, ‘Born Romantic’, ‘Tomorrow La Scala!’, ‘Pure’, ‘Shaun of the Dead, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, ‘Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger, ‘Shallows and Amazons’, ‘The Fight’, ‘Nativity Rocks!’ etc.

Hynes also starred in the tv series ‘Crown Prosecutor’, ‘Asylum’, ‘Staying Alive, ‘The Royal Family, ‘Bob & Rose’, ‘Learners’, ‘Twenty Twelve’, ‘W1A’, ‘Hooten & the Lady’, ‘There She Goes’ etc. Haynes has also starred in 2022 in the tv series ‘The Witchfinder’, ‘Life After Life, and ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’.

Paul Kaye-
English actor and comedian Paul Kaye is another cast member of the series who plays the role of Sasha’s stepfather. His film credits include ‘Blackball’, ‘It’s All Gone Pete Tong’, ‘Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London’, ‘Match Point’, ‘Cass’, ‘The Big I Am, ‘The Whale, ‘Dracula Untold’, ‘The Comedian’s Guide to Survival’, ‘Anna and the Apocalypse, the recent 2022 movie ‘Catherine Called Birdy’ etc.

Kaye also starred in the tv series ‘Perfect World’, ‘Two Thousand Acres of Sky’, ‘Strutter’, ‘Game of Thrones, ‘Three Girls’, ‘Year of the Rabbit, ‘The Stranger’, ‘The Watch’ etc.

Mia Jenkins-
The younger sister of Sasha, Megan Clayton, is played by English actress and singer Mia Jenkins in the series. She played Young Cosette in the 2010 film ‘Les Misérables in Concert: The 25th Anniversary’, based on Victor Hugo’s French historical novel ‘Les Misérables’.

In the Argentine-Mexican telenovela, ‘Soy Luna’ Jenkins was cast in the recurring role of Emma in 2018. She also starred as a recurring character Danielle Marks in 2010 in Amazon Prime Video’s action drama series ‘Hanna’.

Kiell Smith-Bynoe-
The character of Alfred is played in the series by British actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe. He appeared in the British tv game show ‘Cheap Cheap Cheap’ in 2017. Since 2018 he also has been starring in the British sitcom ‘Stath Leta Flats’ in the role of Dean Townsend.

His other tv series role is in the comedy series ‘Enterprise’ from 2018 to 2020. And since 2019 he has been starring in the BBC One’s sitcom ‘Ghosts’ as Mike Cooper. As drug dealer Jovell Maynard, Smith-Bynoe was cast in the British comedy series ‘Man Like Mobeen in 2020.

Tom Stourton-
English actor and voice actor Tom Stourton has starred as Josh in the series. He starred in the films The Spy Who Dumped Me, ‘Horrible Histories: The Movie- Rotten Romans’, ‘And all My Friends Hate Me.

Stourton’s television credits include ‘Siblings’, ‘Horrible Histories’, ‘Drunk History, ‘Stath Lets Flats’, ‘Pls Like’ etc.

Trailer and Release Date of ‘Mood’:
BBC Three released the official trailer of the series on YouTube on March 21, 2022. The movie was first announced as part of the upcoming winter slate of BBC in October of 2021. On BBC Three the series premiered on March 1, 2022. It will arrive on BBC America on November 6, 2022.
