Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure Release Date, and All Other Related Updates!!!

 

A new teaser for the upcoming live-action and computer-generated hybrid series Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure was recently unveiled during a Livestream event hosted by Netflix in Japan.

The Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure is based on the popular Sanrio character Gudetama, who is known for being a slacker. This December, Netflix will release a brand-new series starring Gudetama the lazy egg.

Over the weekend, Netflix made the announcement and unveiled the charming trailer for the brand-new Japanese series titled Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure.

The show stars the Gudetama character from Sanrio, which is an egg yolk. Gudetama and another character, Shakipiyo, a newly hatched chick that still has her eggshell attached to her, work together throughout the episode.

The two duos make an effort to go on an expedition in search of their mother, but Gudetama, being the slothful egg that he is, resists being involved in the search in any way, shape, or form. Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure Official Release Date

On December 13, 2022, Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure will become available to watch online and will consist of ten episodes. Netflix made the announcement of the hybrid live-action earlier this year with a tweet on its Geeked Twitter account back in June of this year.

Plot Details Of the Series

Although not many details of Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure have been officially revealed as of yet, this trailer does give fans a good idea of what to expect.

To begin, there will be a sizeable live-action cast that will include Sarutoki Minagawa, who appeared in the film Death Note in 2006, Akiyoshi Nakao, who starred in Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Serena Motola, who starred in Voices in the Wind.

It would appear that the character played by Akiyoshi is on a quest to consume Gudetama, but there is still time for Gudetama to win him over before the end of the series.

In addition to the human cast, there will also be other CGI characters, mostly made up of various foods that, like Gudetama, appear to have accepted their inevitable fate of being consumed.

Therefore, it is a hybrid live-action/computer-generated animation series because it will involve actual people interacting with characters that were created using computer graphics.

Trailer 

The trailer begins with Gudetama’s sister Shakipiyo greeting him with an embrace and the question, “We’re siblings, right? Let’s search for Mommy”.

After Gudetama’s refusal, Shakipiyo begs and pleads with her, stating that they are “such a chicken.” Gudetama, however, explains that they are not a chicken but rather an egg in response to Shakipiyo’s assertions.

The remaining portion of the teaser follows the two as they venture outside of their refrigerator and come across several dangers, like a spinning sushi buffet, train rides, and hungry customers. There are so many sweet moments in the trailer that it is guaranteed to win over the hearts of many viewers.

Gudetama appears to be approaching their expiration date, and nobody seems to know what will happen to them when they “go bad,” which appears to be the main source of strife in the trailer.

Although Gudetama in the series appears startlingly lifelike in comparison to its cartoon form, it has the same understandable attitude of “Why bother trying?” Watch the trailer right above:

More About The Series

Originally created by Sanrio designer Emi Nagashima, Gudetama is a “kawaii” cartoon character created by the Japanese business Sanrio. Gudetama is an egg with a crack in it that has a droopy appearance and is well-known for being lethargic and unhappy, yet despite all of this, it is still cute.

In Japan and throughout the world, Gudetama has become a pop icon. The character can be found on a wide range of things, including stationery, luggage, cosmetics, clothing, and even Japanese trains and airplanes.

There is also another animated series based on Gudetama called Gudetama, which made its first appearance in 2014 on a program on TBS called Asa Chan. The episodes were unusual in length, clocking in at around one minute each, and the total number of episodes had topped nearly a thousand by the end of 2017.
