Twenty years after the second season of Lars Von Trier’s renowned horror-comedy television series The Kingdom ended in 1997 with the cliffhanger “ALL HELL IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE,” The Kingdom is making a comeback with The Kingdom Exodus Season 3.
The third and final season of the show, titled The Kingdom Exodus, will release on MUBI on November 27. The parallel with David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Comeback, which also made a comeback decades after its second season, is rather intriguing.

The Kingdom Exodus Season 3 Release Date
The third series, Riget: Exodus, had its international premiere as a “five-hour feature” outside of competition at the Venice Film Festival in September 2022. The fifth and final episode of the series is scheduled to debut on Christmas Day 2022, with the series’ projected November 27 Mubi streaming platform debut.
The third and final season of Lars von Trier’s renowned TV series, “The Kingdom Exodus,” will have its world premiere outside of competition at the Venice International Film Festival and be broadcast exclusively on MUBI in the fall of 2022.
It is presented by TrustNordisk and produced by Zentropa Entertainments. Mikael Persbrandt, Lars Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Tuva Novotny, and David Dencik make up the main cast; David Dencik and Alexander Skarsgrd appear as guests.
The Kingdom Exodus once again centers on the eccentric, oftentimes downright strange staff and patients of the neurosurgical unit of a Copenhagen hospital. The program is a loud, satirical metaphor about Denmark’s standing as a country that also pokes fun at the cultural competition between Denmark and Sweden.
The Kingdom Exodus Season 3 will release exclusively on the streaming platform on a weekly basis after MUBI premieres the 1990s original Seasons 1 and 2 of The Kingdom, newly restored so viewers can catch up and newcomers can discover the show for the first time.

The storyline of The Kingdom Exodus Season 3
The Kingdom Exodus had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The new Von Trier series is MUBI’s first step into television series streaming. The Kingdom, an amazing program and the first television series ever broadcast by MUBI, is now airing on MUBI. Efe Cakarel, founder and CEO, stated in a statement.

So perhaps Von Trier’s most recent endeavor marks the start of a new era for MUBI as they compete for additional global TV properties. Recently, MUBI Releases have also made significant strides in the world of movie distribution. “Decision To Leave,” the most current film by Park Chan-wook, “Titane,” the winner of the 2021 Palme d’Or, and Céline Sciamma’s “Petite Maman” are just a few of the important films that MUBI has recently helped promote.
