Wednesday Upcoming Series on Netflix, and Everything We Know About It

Alfred Gough, Tim Burton, and Miles Millar have created the upcoming series ‘Wednesday’ based upon the fictional character Wednesday Addams of cartoonist Charles Addams’ ‘The Addams Family.

The comedy horror series was first announced in October 2020 as an unnamed project based on the Addams Family. Cast members began to join in the middle of 2021 with the filming beginning on September 13, 2021, and concluding on March 30, 2022.

Wednesday Plot

The story is a coming-of-age supernatural mystery drama revolving around Wednesday Addams who is the only daughter of the Addams family.

The series finds her in their high school years at Nevermore Academy where she will be seen mastering psychic power while trying to resist a monstrous killing spree and solving the supernatural mystery that twenty-five years ago affected her family. The story also delves into the new relationships that Wednesday embarks upon.

The Cast Members of the Series.

Jenna Ortega

American actress Jenna Ortega will be seen playing the role of the titular Wednesday. Ortega started as a child actress and in 2014 played the recurring role of Zoe Leon in the American comedy series ‘Rake’.

She also portrayed a Young Jane in the rom-com ‘Jane the Virgin‘ from 2014 to 2019. She also starred as the main character Darcy in the American sitcom ‘Richie Rich’ in 2015. From 2016 to 2018 Ortega played the lead role of Harley Diaz in the family comedy-drama ‘Stuck in the Middle.

In Season 2 of the psychological thriller ‘You‘ Ortega played another main character Ellie Alves. She also starred in the films Insidious: Chapter 2’, ‘The Little Rascals Save the Day, ‘The Baby-Sitters: Killing Queen’, ‘Yes Day’, ‘The Fallout’, ‘Studio 666’, ‘X’ etc. Ortega will also be seen in the upcoming films Finestkind’, ‘Miler’s Girl’, and an untitled sixth Scream movie.

Luis Guzmán

Another cast member of the series is Puerto Rican actor Luis Guzmán who will be seen playing the Gomez Addams, the patriarch of the family. Some of the most important films in which Guzmán has starred include ‘Out of Sight’, ‘The Limey’, ‘Traffic’, ‘Boogie Nights, ‘Magnolia’, ‘Punch-Drunk Love, ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’, ‘The Taking of Pelham 123’, ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ etc.

Guzmán has been cast in important roles in series like ‘House of Buggin’, ‘Luis’, ‘John from Cincinnati’, ‘How to Make It in America’, ‘Mind Games, ‘Narcos‘, ‘Code Black, ‘Roadies’, ‘Perpetual Grace, LTD’, ‘Godfather of Harlem’, ‘Shameless’, ‘Hightown’ etc.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

In the role of the matriarch of the family Morticia Addams, we will see Academy Award winner Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in the upcoming series.

Her most important films include ‘The Mask of Zorro’, ‘Entrapment’, ‘The Haunting’, ‘Traffic’, ‘America’s Sweethearts’, ‘Chicago’, ‘Intolerable Cruelty’, ‘Ocean’s Twelve, ‘The Terminal’, ‘No Reservations’, ‘Red 2’ etc. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Chicago’.

Fred Armisen

Another member of the Addams family Uncle Fester will be played by American actor Fred Armisen. Armisen starred in films such as ‘Melvin Goes to Dinner, ‘The Ex’, ‘Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo’, ‘The Dictator’ and in series like ‘Portlandia’, ‘Documentary Now!’, ‘Moonbase 8′ etc.

American actress and comedian Riki Lindhome will be seen playing the role of Dr. Valerie Kinbott in the upcoming series.

Lindhome has previously starred in the films Million Dollar Baby’, ‘Hell Baby’, ‘The Wolf of Snow Hollow’, ‘Pulse’, ‘The Last House on the Left, ‘Much Ado About Nothing, ‘Fun Size’, ‘The Lego Batman Movie, ‘Knives Out‘ etc.

Lindhome co-created the Comedy Central period sitcom ‘Another Period’ with Natasha Leggero and also starred in the series.

American actor Jamie McShane is cast as Sheriff Donovan Galpin in the series. He previously starred in the series Sons of Anarchy, ‘Southland’, ‘Murder in the First, ‘Bloodline’, ‘Unsolved’, ‘Bosch’, ‘CSI: Vegas’, ‘The Lincoln Lawyer‘ etc.

Canadian actor Percy Hynes White will be seen starring as Xavier Thorpe in the series. He played the role of Andy Strucker in Fox’s superhero series ‘The Gifted’. He was also cast in films such as ‘A Christmas Horror Story and ‘Edge of Winter’.

English actress Gwendoline Christie is cast in the role of Larissa Weems in the upcoming series.

She is most recognized for her role as Brienne of Tarth in HBO’s celebrated fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones‘ for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

She also starred in the films Star Wars: The Force Awakens and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.

As Joseph Crackstone we will see in the series English actor William Houston. He has starred in films such as ‘The Bible, ‘Son of God, ‘The Dancer’, ‘Will’, ‘The Salisbury Poisonings, etc.

‘Wednesday’ is set to release on Netflix on November 23, 2022.
