Dwayne Johnson to Team Up with Lucy Liu for His Upcoming Project

According to a source on Wednesday, Lucy Liu has joined the cast of the next live-action film, which also features Black Adam‘s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Knives Out‘s Chris Evans, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Kiernan Shipka.

Lucy, whose previous credits include the upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods, as well as Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels, was cast in an untitled role.

According to Deadline, the plot of the film, which will reunite Dwayne and Jake Kasdan, the director of his Jumanji franchise, remains a mystery. Still, the film is positioned as a four-quadrant international action-adventure comedy that creates a whole new universe for audiences to explore within the seasonal genre.

Since Dwayne and Lucy Liu are famous action stars, it was a surprise that they had never worked together. However, Red One may just be the first of many movies where the two will appear together in the future thanks to the DC Extended Universe.

While Charlie’s Angels star Lucy hasn’t been in many movies in recent years, she’s remained very involved in the television industry. She has starred in several highly acclaimed television series, including Why Women Kill, Difficult People, and of course, Elementary, which aired for seven seasons between 2011 and 2019.

The talented actress has also recently landed roles in several major film projects, including The Invisibles, and Kung Fu Panda 4, where she once again voices the character of Viper and the upcoming Red One.

The Red One project, which Prime won in a competition and was created based on an original story by Hiram Garcia, president of the production at Seven Bucks, would include several markets and companies under the Amazon umbrella.

The story was written by Chris Morgan. Meanwhile, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, and Dwayne are producing through their company Seven Bucks, along with Kasdan, Melvin Mar through Detective Agency, and Chris through Chris Morgan Productions. The sky is co-produced by Salem Robinson via The Detective Agency.

Red One will be released in Holiday 2023. While it is a long wait, it will be worth it and fans wouldn’t mind waiting that long.
