Bridgerton Season 3 Update: A new season of one of the most beloved romantic series of recent times- ‘Bridgerton’ is on the way to arriving bringing a new pair brewing themselves in a growing romance.
After Simon – Daphne and Kate – Anthony it is now time to root for the sweet Penelope and the third Bridgerton son Colin. It is not very hard to assume that ‘Bridgerton’ is back with its ball dances and swelling chemistry in Season 3.
A Recap of the Season One:
The setting of ‘Bridgerton’ is the Regency era of London in which time marriageable young women were presented in society to be pursued by marriageable young men. Finding real love in that competitive ambiance was really hard.
But as the siblings of the Bridgerton family are prepared for that, some of them on the way fortuitously come across love. As did the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne in the first season when she met the Duke of Hastings- Simon Basset.
Though the season primarily focuses on Simon and Daphne’s maturing relationship, it also introduces the other Bridgerton sisters as well as other important characters like Penelope Featherington, Lady Danbury, and Queen Charlotte.
A Recap of the Season Two
Season two of ‘Bridgerton’ introduces the Sharma family of India. Kate Sharma wants to marry her step-sister Edwina Sharma off to a good match. Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings court Edwina even though a spark clearly ignites between Kate and him.
Their romance flourishes with intensity amidst the secrecy and the failed marriage of Anthony and Edwina. In this season Eloise Brierton, the second Bridgerton daughter and good friend of Penelope comes to discover that the latter is the mysterious author of a scandalous society newsletter which results in her ending her friendship with Penelope. Near the end of the last episode viewers also found Penelope overhearing Collin, the third Bridgerton son, saying that he would never court her, setting the stage for the new season.
Plot for Bridgerton Season 3:
The new season will focus primarily on Penelope and Collin as they develop their chemistry and romance. As most of the viewers know, ‘Bridgerton’ is adapted from the romance novel series by Julia Quinn.
The first and second seasons were based on the first two novels of the series- ‘The Duke and I’ and ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’ respectively. But the third season will make an exception as it follows the story of not the third novel, but the fourth one.
Announcement of Bridgerton Season 3:
Though a trailer teaser has not been released yet for the new season, Netflix released a short video featuring the cast members of the show hinting that production of the new season has begun. The video was released on July 20, 2022.
The cast members can be seen their showing the digit two with their fingers and then flipping their hands to show three which means even before the effect of season two is still quite fresh, season three is coming soon.
At the end of the video Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) is seen to enter into a carriage with Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) telling the viewers “Let’s go” which definitely is an indication that this season viewers will get on board with Colin and Penelope.
Cast Members of ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3:
With Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, other cast members who have been confirmed to be returning in the new season reprising their respective roles are Jonathan Bailey playing Anthony Bridgerton, and Simone Ashley playing the now Kate Bridgerton.
Other cast members who are most likely to return for season three are Adjoa Andoh playing Lady Danbury, Bessie Carter playing Prudence Featherington, Ruth Gemmell playing the Bridgerton mother Violet Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie playing Eloise Bridgerton,
Golda Rosheuvel plays Queen Charlotte, Luke Thompson plays Benedict Bridgerton, Polly Walker plays the Featherington mother Portia Featherington, Rupert Young as Jack Featherington, and Calam Lynch plays Theo Sharpe.
The third Bridgerton daughter Francesca Bridgerton will be played by Hannah Dodd in the new season after Ruby Stokes left the cast. Dodd will also be seen acting in the upcoming movie ‘Enola Holmes 2’.
Bridgerton Season 3 showrunner:
‘Bridgerton’ has been the first scripted show of production company Shondaland for Netflix. Shona Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Chris Van Dusen, and Julie Anne Robinson are the executive producers of the show.
Dusen was the showrunner of the first two seasons. But in the third season, Jess Brownwell has been appointed as the showrunner.
Release Date of Bridgerton Season 3:
No official release date has not been announced for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 yet. But as the last season (which was released on March 25, 2022) only took over a year to arrive after the first season, it is assumed that the new season will air early in 2023.
