Jason Momoa Hated this Line from Aquaman

Published by

When Jason Momoa took on the role of Aquaman, he was confronted with the challenge of attracting the attention of the audience and demonstrating that this hero is a legitimate competitor, despite the fact that Aquaman has been the punchline of the superhero world for decades.

Jason Momoa approached the task with the greatest devotion, going back to the drawing board in order to completely revamp the character from the bottom up.

The performers do not have complete control over the development of their characters, which might be a good thing or a bad one. In the instance of Jason, it resulted in a significant amount of humiliation as well as some back-and-forth with the film’s producers.

This embarrassment was caused by a one-liner that he worried would be the only thing that anybody spoke about. What precisely was Momoa’s problem with this remark, and why did he take such a strong exception to it?

Before Jason Momoa was cast in the role of Aquaman, the character did not have a history that was well recognized, and he did not command the same level of respect as his contemporaries.

Aquaman belongs to the same universe as Batman and Superman, therefore it would be more appropriate for him to star in a program geared at younger audiences (in fact, Mermaid Man from Spongebob Squarepants is a direct parody of Aquaman).

Because of this, Warner Studios exerted a significant amount of work to add some coolness to the character, and they ultimately settled on Momoa for the role. The goal was to come up with a fierce biker/Viking mix that would put Aquaman’s previous incarnations in the shade.

Momoa and the filmmakers had a disagreement with the phrase “I hear you can speak to fish,” which was taken from the movie Justice League (2017). Momoa was attempting to make Aquaman into a more memorable character.

The view that Momoa expressed was that the objective of the character was to be cool and that this phrase would waste all of the potentials that the character had. Momoa made the following comment when recalling the experience: “( asked Joss Whedon, do you want me to make him (Aquaman) cool, or not?” (through CBR).

Fortunately, Jason’s misgivings were unfounded, as Aquaman went on to acquire the support of a large number of people and became a prominent player in Justice League.

Following the enormous success of the Justice League film, Aquaman’s popularity proceeded to soar with the release of his own standalone movie. The fact that the picture went on to earn $355.1 million domestically and $1.148 billion globally demonstrates that Jason certainly rode the wave to success.

It garnered so much success that it surpassed Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises to become Warner-most DC’s most successful title to date. It is also the most successful title in the history of the company.

It is anticipated that the sequel to Aquaman will be released sometime in 2023, and it will undoubtedly continue the growing reputation that Momoa has established for the erstwhile aquatic superhero.
