Professionals Review, and More

Published by

Loosely adapted from the Christian Slater movie, “Soldiers of Fortune”, Professionals is the path to the comeback of the legendary Brenden Fraser.

The series, often termed by critics as a ‘low-budget action adventure follows the life of a futurist Peter Swann, and his partner, Dr. Grace Davila. The duo is presently residing in French Guiana and preparing for a life-changing satellite launch.

The said satellite in essence was meant to track diseases before they develop into full-blown pandemics. With great intentions to make the world a better place, Swann and Dr. Davila see this non-commercial project as a means to prevent global catastrophes. They put a great deal of effort into it and even more faith, hoping it pays off.

However, in contrast to their expectations, the rocket blows up… under suspicious circumstances.

Suspecting dishonest conduct, the pair decided it would be best to hire an elite security specialist. Does he know anything about literal rocket science? In short, no. Can he help? Why not.

Vincent Corbo is introduced as a knight in shining armor. He apparently gets paid unfathomable amounts of money for solving the problems of the rich. And he’s Davila’s former lover. So it’s not like it’s a bunch of strangers are being forced to work together.

With Swan and Davila’s current equation and Corbo and Davila’s past coming into play, it creates a fun yet tense atmosphere full of high-pressure moments and of course, bad jokes.

Professionals  The Cast

TV Series Finale

Brenden Fraser assumes the role of Peter Swan with Elena Anaya as Dr. Davila and Tom Wellington as Vincent Corbo. The additional supporting cast includes Jazzara Jaslyn as Swann’s daughter, Steven Marc, Ken Duken, and August Wittgenstein among others.

Review

With funny moments, the series is a good cross between action and thriller. However, the low budget is evident in the shooting style and shallow dialogues. It was not my best watch, however, if you have a bunch of free time, it’s great to watch Brenden Fraser finally enjoy himself on screen after years of hiatus.
