Young Royals Season 2 Update: Originally premiering on Netflix in 2021 ‘Young Royals’ is a Swedish, LGBTQ+, teen drama. The series follows Wilhelm, a young prince, who was sent to a private boarding school after being seen in a video of a club fight.
Rather unhappy with being transferred to a new school, Wilhelm is miserable in his new environment. That is until he meets Simon, a first-year student living with his family off the grounds of the school.
What Is The Show About?
Young Royals season 1, which accounted for Wilhelm’s sexual awakening, saw him falling in love with Simon. However, the series threw a major curveball when an unexpected accident caused him to suddenly become first in line for the throne. Although the responsibility isn’t even necessarily something that he wants, it may take him away from Hillerska, his new friends, and Simon for good.
The show is complete with its incredible representation of the LGBTQ+ community, its take on prominent mental health issues, and its overall refreshing nature. It is anything but conventional and tackles the upper-class/lower-class dynamic we often encounter in schools.
There is a lot of tension within the plot. With drama being the major selling factor, it by no means is a boring watch. It has the potential to go down as one of the greatest drama series joining giants such as Gossip Girl and Shameless in the hall of fame.
Young Royals Season 2 Teaser
Netflix recently dropped a ‘’First 4 minute” surprise teaser for the second season that got very heated. We meet with Wilhelm after the end of the winter break, who’s back and in the mood for some revenge.
After all, revenge is a dish best served cold. He harbors animosity towards August, his cousin who released the obscene video. August is contrite, but as the video shows, the young prince isn’t taking any apologies. He’s setting out to make his cousin’s life a living hell.
He hopes to win back Simon’s trust in the process, who’s determined to move on and live for himself. Little does he know, however, that he’s about to threaten his claim to the throne.
Young Royals season 2 will be airing on 1st November on Netflix.
