SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless Review, Look Gaming Experience, Performance and More

Published by

SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless is made of plastic and flexes slightly. The keycaps are thermoplastic PBT and have an excellent feel, with little to no movement on the switches. The omnipotent switches include north-facing LEDs that cycle between hues quite smoothly.

The keys can also respond to various button pushes. For example, when I press the function key, the keyboard turns solid orange on all keys that have a function assigned to them. The SteelSeries GG app allows you to customize the colors to your preference.

There are two angled pairs of the foot on the keyboard for three typing angles. The keyboard offers Bluetooth connectivity and supports 2.4GHz wireless through an included dongle.SteelSeries claims 30 hours of use with a single charge and includes a braided USB-C connection for wired mode and charging.

Each corner of the foundation includes four rubber feet on the bottom side. However, you lose part of that stability with the angled feet deployed. Also, the wired Apex Pro Mini has a trap door to keep the supplied keycap puller, which is a pity to lose if you want to reduce clutter, but the wireless version does not.

Gaming Experience

SteelSeries

The Apex Pro’s adjustable actuation shines during gaming, where you can strategically program actions for distinct actions. It is compatible with PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The whole experience is quick and pleasant, mainly when using the wrist rest.

The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless Performance

Digital Trends

The one flaw of the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless is that it takes an exceptionally long time to wake up. It makes no difference what platform or operating system you’re running; it takes approximately a second to wake, which may be unpleasant when you’re trying to log in quickly or have just taken a little break from typing.

Unfortunately, we can’t tell you how often we’ve had to retype stuff due to this problem.

That isn’t always a deal breaker. When the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless awakens, its fantastic performance almost overshadows that flaw.

Despite having less bounce than mechanical switches, the keys have a pleasant, satisfying feel. Although the keycaps are smaller, they have a lovely inward curve that keeps your fingertips in place.

Is SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless worth buying?

ZDNET

1. You wish to configure actuation points and dual actuation.

The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless is more than a set of features. It has features you won’t find anywhere else, like programmable and dual actuation.

2. You have the money.

Wireless tiny gaming keyboards are already costly, but this one is even more so. If you can manage it and plan to use every function, it is worth the money.

3. You require the 60% form factor.

This small-footprint gaming keyboard is ideal for gamers with limited room or who want portability.

Verdict

We have mixed feelings about the Apex Pro Mini Wireless. Using a 60 percent key layout for the first time was a learning experience that took some time to understand, but once established, it’s challenging to go back.

The increased desk space is ideal for individuals who struggle with clutter. The omnipotent switches, which we initially dismissed as a gimmick, resulted in some of the most responsive gaming sessions we’ve ever had. Based on the competitive marketplace, the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini is a decent effort that falls short of standing out.
