The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5: Release Date, Plot, And Many More!

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Update: We’re glad to share some positive news with fans of The Handmaid’s Tale for a change because Gilead is a miserable, dreadful place to visit even in the best of times: the series is unofficially returning for a fifth season! The cast officially announced the continuation of the series in December 2020, even before season four began.

“We are pleased to be able to continue telling these tales with our wonderful cast and crew, and can’t wait to be back on the air with season four next year,” showrunner Bruce Miller said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Since then, it has been reported that work on season six is also ongoing, meaning the story will continue to be filled with trauma and gloomy futures.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5: Release Date

That, however, is an issue for “future us.” Let’s take a deeper look at what The Handmaid’s Tale season five has in store while we wait. Blessed be! Finally, the season five premiere date has been confirmed.

The Handmaid's Tale Season 5

On September 14, 2022, the new season will release on Hulu with a two-part episode. That is, of course, the US release; no date has yet been set for the UK, but it will air soon after on Channel 4, as in seasons past.

Additionally, Hulu offered a brief synopsis of what to anticipate: “June struggles to rebuild her identity and purpose as she faces repercussions for killing Commander Waterford.

“As Gilead’s power spreads across Canada, the bereaved Serena makes an effort to increase her profile in Toronto. Commander Lawrence collaborates with Aunt Lydia in his efforts to elevate Gilead and bring about change. As they continue their quest to find and save Hannah, June, Luke, and Moira engage Gilead at a distance.

Beginning in February 2022, the show began filming in its usual location in Ontario, Canada. According to a filming notice for the Brantford region, Ruby Road will be filming there from mid-February until mid-March. The Handmaid’s Tale’s production name is thought to be Ruby Road (ruby red like the Handmaid’s cloaks, get it?)

One of the many locations in the Ontario region the show has previously used in Brantford. A secondary notice added that filming would also occur at a private residence and on a number of streets. They pledged to minimize noise for the benefit of the neighbors (at least during the evenings).
