Shawn Mendes Voice Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Teaser Out!

Published by

Mr. Shawn Mendes, a Cher fan, is poised to play a live-action crocodile in the Sony musical version of the children’s book Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

And the teaser for Lyle, Lyle, and Crocodile has just out. The film, starring Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, and Constance Wu, will be released in India on October 7th. The musical, directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, stars Shawn as the singing croc and Javier as his owner.

We finally got our first glimpse at Mendes as a singing crocodile who enjoys bathing, months after the first news. Mendes unveils the touching trailer with a knit v-neck collared shirt.

Will Speck and Josh Gordon will helm the picture, while Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, and Winslow Fegley will feature with the titular croc. Executive producers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul collaborated on original songs for the film alongside Mendes and a few additional songwriters.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile Release Date

Collider

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will be released on October 7, 2022, one year after Mendes boldly invited Niall Horan to collaborate: would this be the moment?

On June 22, Sony Pictures India’s official Instagram page posted the teaser trailer. “One tiny discovery, one huge adventure! Watch the new trailer for #LyleLyleCrocodile, starring Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, and Constance Wu, in theatres October 7 (sic),” the caption said.

For the uninitiated, this is a feature film version of the same-named globally acclaimed children’s book.

When the Primm (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, and Winslow Fegley) relocate to New York City, their little son Josh struggles to adjust to his new school and classmates.

All of that changes when he meets Lyle, a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who enjoys baths, caviar, and good music, residing in his new home’s attic.

When Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), an unpleasant neighbor, threatens Lyle’s existence, the Primms must join together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Josh Gordon and Will Speck direct the live-action CGI film. The film will be released on October 7, 2022, by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
