Redmi A1 Price, Design, and More Details

Published by

A unique smartphone in Xiaomi’s lineup, the Redmi A1, has been unveiled. One reason is that, as suggested by its name, the gadget is the first in Xiaomi’s “Redmi A” series.

Furthermore, the Redmi A1 uses Android 12.0 instead of MIUI 13. According to sources, Xiaomi reportedly plans to pre-install Android 12, a stripped-down operating system for low-cost handsets.

Redmi A1: Price

Although Google’s relaunched Android One initiative is being led by the Xiaomi Mi A1, those countries have not yet received an official release of the device. Prices range from about £200/$250/AU$300, and you’ll have to order it from a reseller online.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the OnePlus 5 appear to have had a love child, the Mi A1. Despite having more rounded corners, the phone’s face will make you think of the Redmi Note 4. Its rear resembles the OnePlus 5 quite a bit. Additionally, the antenna lines are made similarly and the camera position is comparable.

There are three color options for this phone: Rose Gold, Gold, and Black. For review, we were given a Gold unit.

Only the Black and Gold color options will be offered at first, with Rose Gold units following in a few weeks. The phone feels luxurious thanks to the 2.5D curved-edge Gorilla Glass on the front.

The 7.3mm wide profile gives it a sleek appearance, while the rounded sides and corners let it fit easily in the hand. We can’t completely disagree with Xiaomi when they say the Mi A1 feels fantastic in the hand.

At the back, there is a fingerprint reader that functions nicely. A two-tone flash is there alongside the dual cameras, which stick out significantly from the back. There is no branding on the front, but you can discover the well-known Mi logo and the Android One logo on the lower rear.

Cameras

One of the Xiaomi Mi A1’s key features is the twin cameras. The manufacturer says that you may get background blur and 2x optical zoom thanks to the two separate lenses. We were able to capture some fantastic samples with bokeh effects when using the depth mode at first.

The primary wide-angle camera is likewise excellent, and when coupled with the second sensor, it delivers a powerful portrait mode that, in our opinion, is even better than the ones on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, with excellent edge recognition.

The Mi A1 captures detailed, well-saturated photos in the daytime that are rich in detail. In dimly lit environments, the performance plummets and is notably worse than that of comparable smartphones like the Moto G5S.

Battery Life

The Redmi Note 4 and Mi A1 have a larger battery, which is one of their main differences. The Mi A1 has a smaller 3,080mAh battery, which is a very common capacity these days.

In contrast to the Redmi Note 4’s massive 4,100mAh power cell, which made it famous, the Mi A1 has a smaller 3,080mAh battery.

The company claims that the Mi A1 would come with a large charger because of the inconsistent electrical supply in India, but this seems like a gimmick to us. It didn’t take too long for the phone to charge completely—about two hours.
