In Oppo’s high-end Reno series of smartphones, the Reno 8 5G is the most recent model. Both the design and the camera of the Reno series have gained recognition. Oppo Reno8 5G performs admirably on both aspects.
The results are excellent for the budget, despite the camera’s on-paper features being underwhelming. Moreover, the phone is gorgeous and will wow everyone with its good looks.
Oppo Reno 8 5G: Display
The 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display on the Oppo Reno 8 has a pixel density of 411 PPI. In addition, the display features a 20:9 aspect ratio, DCI-P3 support, a refresh rate of 90Hz, and an 8-bit color depth.
Although the display’s peak brightness of 800 nits and good viewing angles make it suitable for indoor use, direct sunlight prevents it from being bright enough for outdoor use.
Except for the chin at the bottom, it has fairly small bezels that aid in providing an immersive experience. To safeguard the display, Oppo covered it with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
If the phone’s bottom bezels were thinner, the device’s appearance would have been considerably better. After using the device for a while, though, you won’t notice it.
Performance
The addition of the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC improves the performance of the Reno 8 significantly above that of its predecessor. 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are used with the processor.
As a bonus, the RAM expansion feature enables the phone to use up to 5GB of free storage space as virtual RAM. The chipset achieved both a single-core and a multi-core score of 577.
The crispness and good viewing angles were both features of the AMOLED panel. Single bottom-firing speakers are all that the Reno 8 5G has; however, two speakers would have enhanced the video-watching experience.
On the other hand, the loudness of one speaker is a blessing. On the 90Hz display, navigating through the menus was fluid. The default setting for the panel is 90Hz. However, you can change it to 60Hz if you like. Unfortunately, dynamic refresh rates are not an option.

Cameras
The Reno 8 also changes its rear camera, which now uses a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, quickly becoming the standard camera sensor in the market this year. 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro lenses are connected with the primary camera.
In addition, the 32 MP selfie camera on the front of the Reno 8 is included. The rear camera system can capture 1080p footage at 60 frames per second or 4K video at 30 frames per second.
The phone’s camera did a passable job in low-light situations and could take some decent pictures in well-lit settings. There was a watercolor impression in the frame’s darker sections.
The phone took long-exposure pictures while Night mode was used. However, if the subject moved slightly, the picture would be blurry.
Battery Life
The Reno 8’s 4,500 mAh battery, which easily lasts a day, ensures that there won’t be any issues with battery life.
The Reno 8’s battery life decreased by about 8% after playing Diablo on High graphics in “Performance” mode for 30 minutes nonstop. I had 15% of my battery life remaining after extended use when I went to bed.
