Hailey Bieber’s New Go-To Fall Lip Combo

We all know Hailey Bieber is all about sleek looks. Whether it’s skin, nails, or, as of late, lips. She certainly likes everything smooth and shiny.

And, well, she’s about to apply the trending power of her social media-famous “glazed donut” nails to her lips. On August 24, the Rhode creator posted a TikTok video displaying an autumn beauty essential: “brownie glazed lips.”

Hailey Bieber is changing up her go-to lip combo for autumn, and TikTok is loving it.

We’ve seen Bieber line her lips with a pink-nude pencil and fill them in with a glossy balm a million times. Last week, however, she opted for a darker brown lip liner and dubbed her new lip combo which she called “Brownie Glazed Lips” a Fall essential!

Bieber, dressed in a black leather jacket and a marled light beige cropped T-shirt, posted a mirror selfie video, focusing on her smooth, nude pink-brown lips. Her hair is tied back into a middle-parted ponytail, which draws attention to her brown-lined lips. Glossy doesn’t even begin to describe it; the lips are so reflective that they might practically be a mirror.

Of course, the cosmetic brand’s creator did not develop the “gym lips” fad, nor did TikToker popularise the term.

Nonetheless, she has recently contributed to its popularity. What precisely is it? You overline your lips with a lip liner and then apply a lip balm or clear gloss on top. It’s a simple trend since it flatters everyone. You may use any cosmetics you currently have in your backpack.

Bieber always uses her own Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment as the clear gloss topper, but she changes up the lip liner color. She generally goes for Makeup Forever Artist Color Pencil in Anywhere Caffeine, which is almost always out of stock. But it appears like she’s been using the Scott Barnes Atelier Lip Pencil in Naomi ($18 at Scott Barnes) instead.

To be specific, this look was created by her L.A.-based makeup artist, Leah Darcy, who also posted the video on her Instagram page.

Sunburned blush and bronzer provide warmth and structure to Bieber’s already-high cheekbones. Darcy told Allure exactly what she used on the model’s lips. She used the Makeup For Ever Artist Color Pencil in Versatile Chestnut to define their form.

She then applied a little wash of Merit Flush Balm in Raspberry Beret with her fingertips, followed by a dab of Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Salted Carmel to complete the look. Her brows are well manicured and shimmering, and barely-there eye makeup (Hourglass Shattered Light in Ray) gives her lids a glossy sheen.

This liner style is reminiscent of the 1990s when many women in the Black and Latino cultures used very black liner with nude, glossy lips.

Of course, it made its way to high fashion runways and then to the mainstream, but its roots remain deep. Though the style has developed with different groups of individuals throughout time, it’s apparent that 25 years later, it’s had a lasting effect on beauty aesthetics.
