Casting a stop to the waiting for the arrival of the second part of the Enola Holmes series, ‘Enola Holmes 2’ will be arriving on Netflix this year on 4th November.

Based on Nancy Springer’s same-named young adult book series, this movie is the sequel of the first Enola Holmes movie that was released in 2020 and where we first got introduced to Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola, genius sister of renowned detective Sherlock Holmes. Director Harry Bradbeer returned to direct the upcoming movie.

In the first movie, Enola embarked upon the journey of finding her missing mother rediscovering herself on the way. She also met Viscount Tewkesbury, a gentle young boy of the noble family whose journey gets entangled with Enola’s. In the upcoming movie, we will find Enola taking her first-ever professional case.

Alongside Millie Bobby Brown reprising her titular leading role, Henry Cavill will also be seen returning to portray Sherlock Holmes as will Louis Patridge as Viscount Tewkesbury, Helena Bonham Carter as Enola’s mother, Adeel Akhtar as Lestrade, and Susie Wokoma as Edith.

Based on Agatha Christie’s detective Miss Marple, this movie is directed by Martyn Friend. The plot of the story begins with one of Miss Marple’s friends catching sight of a woman being strangled on a passing train.

Though they report the police, the police do not give much heed to them considering Miss Marple a busybody. But when she discovers the dead body, the police again take interest in the case. But by then Miss Marple has taken it on her shoulder to solve the crime.

Martyn Friend directed this movie and starred Joan Hickson in the role of Miss Jane Marple. The movie was released on February 25, 1987, in the United Kingdom.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)-

This period mystery action movie, which was directed by Guy Ritchie, is the sequel to the 2009 movie ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in which we were first introduced to Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of the legendary detective.

Though the film is based on characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle, the plot is not adapted from any of his stories as this film involves both Professor Moriarty and Irene Adler.

Robert Downey Jr., mostly known for his portrayal of Iron Man in MCU’s superhero films, reprises his role of Holmes from the previous movie.

Other cast members include Jude Law as Dr. Watson, Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty, and Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler. The film was released on December 16, 2011.

Robert Florey directed this 1932 horror movie which according to some critics is the best film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s same-named short story of 1841.

Actor Leon Ames portrayed the detective Dupin in the movie along with Bela Lugosi, Sidney Fox, Bert Roach, and Betty Ross Clarke in other main roles. The movie, however, was much different from the original short story.

It had a theatrical release on February 10, 1932, at the RKO- Mayfair Theatre and was later released on February 21, 1932.

This is another movie where we find Joan Hickson reprising her role as Miss Marple. The plot of the movie revolves around the murder of a magistrate inside the library of a local vicarage.

Though the magistrate’s wife and her lover confess to the crime, Miss Marple’s observation, and intelligence clear them of the crime. But other suspects are surely around. Despite the police being reluctant to seek help from Miss Marple, they have to at last.

From director Julian Amyes this movie stars Paul Eddington, Cheryl Campbell, Robert Lang, Polly Adams, Tara MacGowran, James Hazeldine, etc. The movie premiered on December 25, 1986, in the United Kingdom.

This very recently released movie is also based on Agatha Christie’s detective story, but this time the detective is Hercule Poirot. Directed by veteran film director Kenneth Branagh, this movie stars Branagh as Hercule Poirot as he has reprised his role from the 2017 movie ‘Murder on the Orient Express, the first one of this series.

Tom Bateman has also reprised the role of Poirot’s friend Bouc in the movie. In other important roles, we find Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, comedian Russell Brand, the cast of ‘The Social Network’s Armie Hammer, ‘And sex Education’ famed Emma Mackey.

The movie was first announced to be under development in November of 2017. A sequel of the film is also under development now. It was released on February 9, 2022, in France and South Korea and two days later on February 11 in the United States and the United Kingdom.
