Must Watch Films and Series on HBO and HBO Max in September 2022

HBO Max has now become a very significant streaming site for tv series fans at present time. The reason is obvious.

The premiere of ‘House of the Dragon‘, the much-awaited spin-off prequel of one of the most popular series of television history ‘Game of Thrones was also an HBO Max original. But the streaming site has more to offer than the new series only which includes both new and old projects.

Elvis-

The 2022 biographical musical movie ‘Elvis’ which was released on June 24, 2022, in the United States is directed by Baz Luhrmann.

The film follows one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century Elvis Presley who is the titular rock and roll icon, actor, and singer. The story is told from the point of view of Colonel Tom, his manager.

As he is on his deathbed after a long era of gambling addiction, he reminisces about the time when he first met Elvis long before he becomes the King of Rock and Roll.

American actor Austin Robert Butler portrayed Elvis Presley in the film. Other cast members are popular American actor-filmmaker Tom Hanks playing the manager, Olivia DeJonge, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, and Kelvin Harrison in other roles.

The movie first premiered on May 25, 2022, Cannes and was then released in Australia on June 23, 2022. ‘Elvis’ will arrive on HBO on September 2.

The Vampire Diaries-

One of the most popular teen fantasy series to date ‘The Vampire Diaries will be available on HBO Max from September 4 this year with all the seasons.

Adapted from the same named book by L. J. Smith, the series is developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec. Set in a fictional town of Virginia, named Mystic Falls, the plot revolves around a teenage girl Elena Gilbert and two vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore both of whom fall for her.

Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder portray Elena, Stefan, and Damon respectively. Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning, Kat Graham, and Candice King are some of the main cast members of the series.

The CW series ran from September 10, 2009, to March 10, 2017, and gave birth to spin-off series like ‘The Originals and ‘Legacies’. The series will be able to be streamed on September 4, 2022.

A spin-off prequel of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s tv sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory was first planned in November of 2016. This coming-of-age sitcom which is set in the 1980s and the early 1990s centers on the growing up of Noble prize winner eccentric genius Sheldon Cooper in East Texas during his preadolescent and adolescent years.

His family members- his mother, father, twin sister, and older brother get their own story arc in the series. Jim Parsons who portrayed the grown-up Sheldon Cooper in ‘The Big Bang Theory, is an executive producer of the series.

In this series child prodigy, Sheldon Cooper is portrayed by American child actor Iain Armitage. Other cast members include Zoe Perry who is the real-life daughter of the actress who played Sheldon’s mother’s older version in the series, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Rahega Revord, Annie Potts, Matt Hobby, etc.

The series completed streaming five seasons with the sixth season set to release on September 29. The first five seasons will arrive on September 7 on HBO Max.

The internationally produced sci-fi disaster movie ‘Moonfall’ begins with astronauts Brian Harper and Jacinda Fowler along with newcomer astronaut Marcus embarking on a mission on a Space Shuttle in order to repair a satellite in 2011. But Harper returns being the only witness of an alien attack which is not believed by anyone on Earth.

The cast members of the movie include Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, etc.

The movie was first premiered in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022, then in the US and in the UK on February 4, and in China on March 25. The movie will land on HBO on September 9, 2022.

American comedy series ‘Los Espookys’ that first came with its first season on HBO on June 14, 2019 deals with a plot involving a group of friends who are endeavoring to run a successful business where they fabricate situations like horror films and trick people to believe that they are real.

The cast members include Bernardo Velasco, Cassandra Ciangherotti, Ana Fabrega, Julio Torres, Fred Armisen, José Pablo Minor, Carol Kane etc. The series will return on HBO with a second season of the series, renewed in July 2019, and on September 16, 2022.
