The Nun 2, the upcoming entry in The Conjuring Universe, will be directed by Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It). The sequel will hit theatres on September 8, 2023, and Bonnie Aarons will return to reprise her role as Valak, the demon from the first film. 

The Nun 2’s first synopsis is as follows: France in 1956. The Murder of a priest occurs. A bad thing is growing. In the follow-up to the massively successful worldwide film THE NUN, SISTER IRENE encounters THE DEMON NUN, VALAK, once more.

While the follow-up is still over a year away, Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It) and actors Taissa Farmiga and Bonnie Aarons will return to the director’s chair for The Conjuring spin-off as Sister Irene and the demonic Valak, respectively. 

The sequel will start up only four years after the original film, which debuted in 2018 and was set in 1952 Romania. Taissa Farmiga portrays Sister Irene in the movie The Nun. 

The Nun grossed an astounding $365 million at the box office globally in 2018, virtually guaranteeing that Valak, the demonic nun, would return. As the last we heard, The Nun 2 will be written by Malignant’s Akela Cooper.
