House of the Dragon Star Emily Carey Revealed Why She Deleted Her Twitter Account after criticism for her Comic-Con remarks.

After receiving a flood of hateful messages after participating in the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, House of the Dragon actress Emily Carey announced that she was leaving Twitter (SDCC).

The British actress who portrays young Alicent Hightower in HBO’s prequel series to Game of Thrones said she was ridiculed for her statements during the show’s discussion at the annual event.

I can’t get enough of the internet and social media. I’ve worked since I was a youngster, so I’m quite aware of what goes on in the world, and now that I’m 19 years old, I’m even more immersed in social media than I was before. Any hostility is merely… We know there’s a real human being on the other end of this connection. Carey said, “You just have to move on from it.” to the Australian news outlet News.com.au.

But I will admit that I did remove Twitter from my life (after SDCC) since it is so distracting. It’s hard to enjoy since there are always so many people and so much noise, even when it’s fantastic. The 19-year-old actor said, “I want the buzz, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it can be overpowering.

House of the Dragon, which premiered on Disney Plus Hotstar on Monday, is a prequel to Game of Thrones that chronicles the Targaryen family’s history up to the birth of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and the events of the final season of the epic fantasy series in 2019.

Fans of the novels by George R. R. Martin on which the two programs are based were outraged in July when Emily Carey revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con that she had decided to humanize her character Alicent.

There were some blanks we needed to fill in, so I took to keeping a notebook and eventually came up with a narrative that served us well. It’s the first time I’ve ever been able to make a fully realized human person. It was a great delight to be able to have such a deep conversation with her.

Many facets make up her complex personality. She had previously commented, “There was a lot more to explore with her younger age, but I believe plenty of people are already anticipating her to be the villain of the show.”

The people of the microblogging site apparently reacted negatively to her words, arguing that her persona was a villain. Carey has already stated her position on her personality.

Yes, I still believe what I stated on the panel. To set the record straight, Alicent is not the bad guy here. When we first meet her, she’s a young girl who was raised in a patriarchal society. Let’s see how things pan out. Perhaps you’ll understand,” she tweeted before deleting it.
