Critically acclaimed and winner of a number of accolades dystopian tv series of America ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is returning with its season 5 this September on Hulu. Bruce Miller has created this series that is adapted from the renowned same named dystopian novel of 1985 written by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.
Hulu first ordered the series starring Elisabeth Moss in the lead role in April of 2016. The series received thirteen Primetime Emmy Awards nominations with eight wins.
It is the first tv series on a streaming service to win the Emmy Award under the category of Outstanding Series and Hulu’s first show to win a major award. The series also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series- Drama.
Plot of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5-
The plot of the series is set in the economic totalitarian fictional regime of Gilead in a dystopian world where fertility rates have collapsed and women are used to giving birth to children for powerful leaders.
Such an enslaved woman is June Osborne aka Offred and later Ofjoseph who is the lead character of the story.
Though the exact storyline of the new season is not revealed yet, it is confirmed that the upcoming season will deliver more and probably the darkest plot till now.

The character of Serena Joy, wife of Fred who was June’s former master, is played by Australian actress Yvonne Jaqueline Strzechowski in the series. From 2005 to 2006 she played Freya Lewthe is in Australian series ‘headLand’.
From 2007 to 2012 she was cast in the main role of CIA Agent Sarah Walkthe er in action comedy spy drama series ‘Chuck‘. In Showtime’s crime series ‘Dexter‘ Strahovski playa ed as recurring character Hannah McKay from 2012 to 2013.
In 2014 tv series ’24: Live Another Day’ she played the main role of CIA Agent Kate Morgan. The next year she starred in the role of Rene Carpenter in ABC’s period drama ‘The Astronaut Wives Club’.

Lydia is one of the Aunts of the Red Center to oversee the sexual re-education and duties of the Handmaids. This role is starred by American actress Ann Dowd. Her other tv series roles include in ‘Nothing Sacred’, ‘The Leftovers’, ‘Good Behaviour’ etc.

Luke Bankole is June’s husband from before Gilead who is eventually revealed to have escaped to Canada. Emmy nominated British actor O. T. Fagbenle plays this role. He starred in main roles in ‘Grownups’, ‘FM’, ‘Material Girl’, ‘Thorne’, ‘The Interceptor’, ‘The First Lady’.
He also portrayed Marvel Comics character Rick Mason aka The Agent in the 2021 superhero movie of MCU ‘Black Widow’.
Max Minghella-
Starring as Commander Nick Blaine we see English actor Max Minghella who has previously starrthe ed in 2010 movie ‘The Social Network’ for which he won several accolades.
Samira Wiley-
June’s best friend Moira is played by American actress Samira Wiley who has also starred in ‘Orange Is the New Black’.

The season was first released on April 26, 2017, on Hulu. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 was renewed in December of 2020 which is set to arrive on September 14, 2022.
