The Neighborhood Season 5 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Everything you need to know

Jim Reynolds created the American sitcom ‘The Neighborhood’ which is returning on CBS this September with season 5. The plot of the series revolves around a man named Dave Johnson and the tough African American neighborhood of L.A. in which Johnson shifts his family.

But his over-neighborliness is not well accepted among the neighbors who also include Calvin Butler, the man living with his family next door to Johnson who is another main character of the series.

The Neighborhood Season 5 Release Date

The series premiered on October 1, 2018, on CBS. The Neighborhood Season 5 has been renewed in January of 2022 and is set to release on September 19, 2022.

The primary cast members of the series are Cedric the Entertainer, Max Greenfield, Tichina Arnold, Beth Behrs, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, Hank Greenspan, etc.

Max Greenfield-

Dave Johnson, who is a Western Michigan University graduate and a professional conflict mediator along with a military veteran, is portrayed by American actor Max Greenfield. In 2006 he played the main character Kyle Brewster in the American sitcom ‘Modern Men’.

From 2011 to 2018 Greenfield starred in the main role of Winston Schmidt in another American sitcom ‘New Girl’ for which he was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award under the category of supporting actor.

The other series in which Greenfield appeared include ‘Undressed’, ‘Veronica Mars, ‘Ugly Betty, ‘Greek’, ‘Raising the Bar, ‘The Mindy Project, ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’, ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, ‘No Activity’ etc.

He voice starred in the series ‘Bob’s Burgers, ‘Robot Chicken’, ‘All Hail King Julien: Exiled’, ‘BoJack Horseman, ‘Hoops’ etc.

Cedric the Entertainer-

The role of Calvin Butler is played by American actor and stand-up comedian Cedric Antonio Kyles who is referred to as Cedric the Entertainer, his stage name. He is also a game show host.

From 1996 to 2002 he played the main role, Cedric Jackie Robinson, in the American sitcom ‘The Steve Harvey Show.

Starring as Reverend Boyce Ballentine, he was cast as the main cast in the sitcom ‘The Soul Man’ from 2012 to 2016. He also starred in the recurring role of Croop in the crime series ‘Power’ from 2019 to 2020.

He voice starred in the show ‘The Proud Family’, ‘The Boondocks’, ‘Summer Camp Island’, ‘Woke’, ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder’.

Cedric hosted shows including ‘Comic View’, ‘It’s Worth What?’, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, ‘Cedric’s Barber Battle’, ‘The Greatest #StayAtHome Videos’, ‘The Greatest #AtHome Videos’.

Beth Behrs-

The wife of Dave Johnson is Gemma Johnson who takes the job of principal in a private school in Los Angeles.

This is the reason for the Johnson family’s moving to California. American actress Elizabeth Ann Behrs plays the role and is mostly recognized for her leading role in ‘2 Broke Girls.

From 2011 to 2017 she was cast in the role of Caroline Wesbox Channing in the CBS sitcom ‘2 Broke Girls for which she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award under the category of Breakout Star: Female and a People’s Choice Award.

Behrs also appeared in the series ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, ‘Castle’, ‘And the Big Bang Theory, and voice starred in the series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh. Behrs has starred in the films American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, ‘Adventures of Serial Buddies’, ‘Chasing Eagle Rock’, ‘Hello, My Name Is Doris, etc, and has voice starred in the movie ‘Monsters University.

Tichina Arnold-

Calvin Butler’s wife Tina Butler is played by American actress Tichina Rolanda Arnold in the series.

She starred as the main character in the series ‘Martin’, ‘Everybody Hates Chris, ‘Happily Divorced’, ‘Survivor’s Remorse’, ‘Ryan’s Hope, ‘All My Children, and in recurring roles in ‘One on One’s first three seasons, ‘Brothers’, ‘Raising Hope’s season one, ‘Daytime Divas’, etc.
