Phantasy Star Online 2 Launch Date, Characters and Everything you need to know

Published by

A free-to-play online action role-playing game in the Phantasy Star series, Phantasy Star Online 2 (commonly shortened as “PSO2”) was created and released by Sega.

The game debuted on July 4, 2012, in Japan. The game was available for free download and play, with the ability to convert real money into in-game currency using the “ARKS Cash” system. On September 13, 2012, Sega also published a retail edition of the game along with an installation DVD that included additional bonuses and in-game goodies.

PSO2 was developed as a follow-up to Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe. It has gameplay mechanics and visuals that are reminiscent of earlier Phantasy Star games, but it also adds some original twists to the system. In July 2012, the initial version was made available for Windows in Japan.

The PlayStation Vita version was discontinued in September 2020 after its release in February 2013. In April 2016, a PlayStation 4 version was made available. In 2014, the companion/spin-off game PSO2 was made available for iOS and Android.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud, a cloud version for the Nintendo Switch that was also published in December 2018 for the PC. The game will be made available for the Xbox One and Windows for the first time outside of Asia in early 2020, according to the E3 2019 announcement.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Launch Date

PCMag

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (also known as Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Cloud on the cloud) is a massively improved and distinct “shared universe” game that was released on June 9, 2021.

On August 31, 2022, the PlayStation 4 version will be released. It was also released on Windows (download and cloud), Nintendo Switch (cloud), and PlayStation 4 in Japan. It was released for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in all other regions.

The developers chose not to call it “Phantasy Star Online 3” or concentrate on making a game with no backward compatibility with PSO2 content in order to continue supporting existing players and avoid splitting the player base between two different games that were released at the same time.

This is despite the fact that it was released nearly ten years after the launch of Phantasy Star Online 2 and has significantly different gameplay, graphics, and content.
