Why John Boyega Isn’t He Joining MCU? Click to know

John Boyega is taking a break, at least for the time being, from his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In his cover story for Men’s Health magazine, the alphabetical person who is 30 years old provided an explanation for why he is not interested in extending the mega-franchise.

John does not presently think that Marvel is all that much of a big deal.

He stated that at this moment, that does not make sense to him. “I wish to take on difficult responsibilities… In light of the fact that I am well aware of how tough it will be to outdo “Iron Man” in this environment, I want to direct my efforts toward independent films that are contemporary and original.

Breaking, which will be released on August 26, The Woman King, which will be released on September 16, and They Cloned Tyrone, which does not yet have a release date, are the three movies that John, who most recently portrayed Finn in the most recent Star Wars films, will appear in this year.

John Boyega has made no secret of the fact that he is dissatisfied with the path that the Star Wars prequel trilogy followed and the way that his character, Finn, was portrayed in the films. In the year 2020, he gave an interview to the British edition of GQ in which he made the following recommendation:

“What I would say to Disney is to not introduce a Black character, pitch them as being considerably more crucial in the series than they are, and then have them shunted to the side.” “This is not good. I’ll say it out loud.”

Therefore, it seemed as though some pieces weren’t quite fitting together when reports emerged earlier this year on a website called GiantFreakinRobot claiming that Boyega had covertly shot a cameo for a forthcoming movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (another massive brand owned by Disney). The movie in question will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, Boyega partly disputed speculations that he will be joining the MCU in the magazine’s most recent cover story. That’s not what I see right now, he added. “I want to take a sophisticated approach. Since I am aware of how hard it will be to surpass Iron Man in that world, I want to contribute my talents to independent films with unique, innovative concepts.

So, not a complete, outright rejection. But undoubtedly a “No”—at least for the time being.

Boyega’s relationship with the Marvel universe was aided by his appreciation of the studio during a 2021 visit on Fresh Air With Terry Gross when he discussed Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), the character who became the new Captain America in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
