Featuring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Bobby Cannavale, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a 2017 American fantasy adventure comedy film directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Scott Rosenberg, and Jeff Pinkner.
Following Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), it is the third entry in the Jumanji franchise and a direct sequel to Jumanji (1995), which was based on the 1981 children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg.
The narrative centers on a group of youngsters who discover Jumanji in a computer game, 21 years after the events of the 1995 movie. As a group of adult avatars locked in the game, they are attempting to fulfill a task with another player who has been imprisoned since 1996.
Principal production started in Honolulu in September 2016 and ended in Atlanta in December. As a tribute to the previous movie’s star, Robin Williams, the movie makes prominent references to the original.
On December 5, 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle had its world premiere at the Grand Rex in Paris. On December 20, Sony Pictures Releasing, operating under the Columbia Pictures banner, distributed the film in theatres around the country.
Critics gave the movie favorable reviews and praised it for its humor and performances. The picture raked in nearly $962 million globally, ranking as the fifth-highest-grossing movie of the year. In December 2019, Jumanji: The Next Level, the sequel, was made available.

On December 14, 2017, NHN Entertainment and Idiocracy Games released the Android and iOS versions of the mobile game Jumanji: The Mobile Game.
On May 2, 2018, the game was taken down from Google Play and the App Store, and on May 24, its service was terminated.
On January 17, 2018, Jumanji: The VR Adventure, a virtual reality game created by MWM Immersive and distributed by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, was made available on Steam for HTC Vive.
The Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR editions of the experience were canceled despite their announcements after the game received harsh criticism for its subpar visuals and hardware performance.
On February 9th, 2018 Steam removed it from their catalog.
Jumanji: The Video Game was released on November 8, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows. It was created by Funsolve and published by Outright Games. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level served as inspiration.
