When Did Tom Holland Truly Became Spider-Man? Know What Marvel’s Kevin Feige Has To Say

Published by

Marvel Universe Phase 4 kicked off in 2021 with some incredible stories in their own right. The third highest-grossing MCU movie in history, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is considered by many to be Tom Holland’s most notable performance.

There is no doubt that No Way Home delivered some of the most incredible story beats in the MCU Spider-Man’s history, finally giving him some of his iconic moments from the comics fans have wanted to see on screen.

From his iconic one-on-one battle with Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin to learning about the loss of his Aunt May, this movie truly transformed Peter Parker into Spider-Man.

When did Tom Holland actually officially become Spider-Man according to its creators?

Deadline

Recent comments by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed his initial impressions of Tom Holland’s portrayal of the character. He also revealed what he perceives to be the most pivotal moment in the character’s emergence.

According to Feige, Tom Holland became Spider-Man during one key moment in Marvel Cinematic Universe history.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige talked about the moment when Tom Holland became Spider-Man within the MCU in an interview at the back of “The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #900.”

During a conversation with editor Nick Lowe, Feige recalled Peter Parker lifting a huge pile of rubble off of himself following a battle with Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

This is when “Tom Holland really becomes Spider-Man,” Feige said, noting that this moment has been on his wish list “since he joined Marvel Studios.”

He explained that it was lifting the rubble. “[Spider-Man co-creator Steve] Ditko’s panel ‘Lifting the Rubble’ has stuck with me my entire life, and when I joined Marvel Studios, it occurred to me that we should put that in the movies.

There’s a scene at the end of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man where Peter lifts a heavy piece off at the pier where Doc Ock is making his machine. We didn’t really say, ‘Oh, we’re doing it,’ until Spider-Man: Homecoming. To me, that is the moment when Tom Holland truly becomes Spider-Man. Anyway, that’s the moment. Ditko’s angular metal debris on top of Spidey and water coming down in front of his face.”

The first time Holland played Spider-Man was in Captain America: Civil War, released in 2016. Following Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, he reprised the role.

It seems unlikely that the star will be seen wearing Spidey’s spandex again any time soon. As Tom Holland announced in February 2022 that he was taking a break from acting after releasing his next project, the Apple TV+ show The Crowded Room.

However, how long Holland’s acting break will last is currently unclear.
