Stranger Things: Sadie Sink Begged and Pleaded to Audition for Max

Sadie Sink of Stranger Things said a few exclusive things about her audition for the role of Max. Stranger Things’ fourth season ended earlier this month, and the show’s fifth season will be its final one. Since the show returned after a long hiatus, many of the cast members have reminisced.

With the show coming almost to its end, the cast is revealing many inside secrets now to the fans. For example, while filming Season One, David Harbour (Jim Hopper) admitted he thought the show would be a disaster.

Stranger Things Star Sadie Sink shared an interesting thing about her Audition for the role

Just like in an interview with Fashion Magazine (via Deadline), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield) revealed how badly she wanted the role before her Season Two debut.

Sadie Sink revealed that originally, casting directors were reluctant to cast her as Max Mayfield because they thought she was too old.

While Sink became a fan favorite, she told Fashion magazine that she had to push for the role, adding that it felt right for her.

“It took me a long time to convince them to give me more material so I could give them something fresh,” she said.

Eventually, she said, producers caved and made her do a chemistry test with “Stranger Things” actors Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin. A day later, she learned she had been hired.

As Sink put it, “the Stranger Things cast and I am all in such a strange and specific situation. This is because the world knows who we are as characters, but we are still trying to figure out who we are as people. The industry accelerates your growth and your maturity, but for the most part, it’s so much fun working with the cast.”

As fans of Stranger Things already know, Max was in the spotlight during Season Four, and Sink’s performance couldn’t be praised enough. Even the Duffer Brothers teased that Max would play a key role prior to the premiere of the new season.

Co-creator Matt Duffer previously told IGN that Max is a major focus of the season. Her grieving is at the forefront of the season, and Max is also someone who does not easily open up to people. So a lot of what she is dealing with is internal; she has shut lots of people out.”

For the unaware, Sadie Sink grew up in the spotlight.

Before landing the role in Netflix’s hit show, Sink performed on Broadway, starred in a movie with Helen Mirren, and appeared in “The Americans” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
