Asus ROG Phone 6: Design, Performance, Specs and Much More

Asus ROG Phone 6 series smartphones are well-known for their superior gaming performance. Furthermore, these smartphones have excellent specifications and features.

The brand’s latest offering, the ROG Phone 6, has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20.4:9 and a pixel density of 395ppi. In addition, the bezel-less display has a resolution of 1080 x 2448 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Asus ROG Phone 6: Design

Asus ROG Phone 6 is one of the more classic gaming phones on the market, with its curved, smooth, pearlesque, frosted glass back and rounded metal sides. However, if you close your eyes while holding it, you’ll notice that, despite its size, it’s a comfortable, premium smartphone – nothing particularly noteworthy.

Display

At first glance, the Asus ROG Phone 6 has the same screen as its predecessor, with a 6.78-inch Full HD AMOLED display. However, if you go into the settings, you’ll find the option to increase the refresh rate to 165Hz, matching the Red Magic 7.

The ROG Phone 6’s resolution of 2448 x 1080 is low for a smartphone at this price point, but it’s adequate for a gaming phone. This is because most games are displayed in Full HD, and the lower resolution maintains high frame rates.

Asus ROG Phone 6: Performance

The Asus ROG Phone 6 features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a faster version of the Snapdragon 8 found in flagships such as the Sony Xperia 1 IV and Xiaomi 12 Pro. While the original 8 Gen 1 was notorious for overheating under duress. Asus has done a lot to help the ROG 6 maintain its cool, despite its more powerful iteration of Qualcomm’s processor.

Asus has also added other thoughtful touches to help with heat management. For example, charging phones usually causes them to heat up. Still, you can configure the Asus ROG Phone 6 only to draw enough power to keep it alive. So, you don’t have to worry about an empty battery or heat interfering with your handheld gaming.

Cameras

While gaming phones have never had cameras that can compete with iPhone or Pixel.  The ROG Phone series has always performed admirably. This time, we get an improved main camera, despite a decrease in pixel count.

The phone’s night mode also does a good job of capturing extra detail with a long exposure. The best part is that it activates automatically when the lights go out. So you don’t have to do anything to use it, whether you’re using a primary or ultra-wide camera.

Battery Life

Asus ROG Phone 6 has one of the largest batteries on the market, with a 6,000mAh capacity. For Android phones, the standard capacity is now 4,500-5,000mAh. While there is no wireless charging. Phone 6 charges quickly with 65W charging, going from 0% to 100% in about 45 minutes.

Knowing that you’ll probably want to charge your ROG Phone 6 while playing games, Asus included a bypass charging mode as an option. This allows power to be delivered to the system from the charger without actually charging the battery, reducing battery wear and improving heat management.
