HBO Max is a streaming service that is provided by WarnerMedia that not only hosts movies from the pay cable channel HBO but also provides access to a wide variety of films from the Warner Bros. Library as well as films from other studios.
The truth of the matter is that the movies that are now accessible on HBO Max for the launch are actually rather good. There is a wide variety of old movies, recent blockbusters, oddball independents, and, yes, superhero movies.
The film production company that was responsible for The Dark Knight and Man of Steel has made a significant number of DC Comics movies available to stream online.
However, if the prospect of streaming any one of the more than 600 movies that are now accessible makes you feel overwhelmed, we’ve got you covered. We’ve put together a hand-curated list of HBO Max’s best movies below.
Our writers will argue why each movie is unique while recommending movies that are worth your time. Some of them you may have heard of but not yet seen, while others you may have seen numerous times. Regardless, we promise you’ll find something enjoyable.

One of the most popular movies of the year, The Batman, is now streaming on HBO Max. Bruce Wayne, as portrayed by Robert Pattinson, leans more toward the investigative aspect of the character as he looks into a string of gruesome deaths that are connected to Gotham’s corruption.
Wonder Woman is, without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable films in the DC Extended Universe. Diana, an Amazonian warrior who travels to the UK during World War One to battle the god Ares, is the subject of this movie.
There, she meets a man who she begins to love and learns that the battle is not what she had anticipated.
When it was initially released in 1999, The Matrix was a movie that was years ahead of its time and will make you question everything you believe to be true about the world.
Neo is going about his seemingly ordinary existence until someone informs him that everything is a simulation and that his mission in the actual world is much larger.
The groundbreaking novel “Dune” by Frank Herbert is being adapted into a film series, with “Dune” serving as the first installment.
It centers on Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet), a talented individual who is forced to venture to the universe’s most hazardous planet in order to protect the future of his family and his people.
Tenet is a concept that isn’t the simplest thing to wrap your brain around, much like many of the films that Christopher Nolan has directed.
You’ll be kept engaged, though, thanks to some incredible action sequences and fantastic work from John David Washington and Robert Pattinson.
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Alfonso Cuaron helmed the best Harry Potter film before going on to win a few Best Director Oscars. Chris Columbus did a great job creating the Harry Potter universe, and he deserves praise for adhering to the books and casting the right actors.
However, Cuaron was wise enough to realize that by the time the third movie arrived, it was time to start taking some creative risks, or else the movies wouldn’t be able to take on a life of their own.
Thankfully, he identified that pulse and, rather than merely adapting the books to a new medium, offers the Harry Potter series some of its strongest emotional beats and ultimately gives it a cinematic feel.
West Side Story
Stephen Spielberg’s West Side Story stands out significantly in a sea of remakes. A young couple falls in love in 1957 New York. However, their relationship sparks a full-scale conflict between the two gangs.
The performances aren’t half terrible, either, and the music and choreography are also outstanding.
Spirited Away is one of the most well-known Studio Ghibli films available on HBO Max. The movie centers on a little child named Chihiro and her parents as they stumble onto a theme park that appears to have been deserted. Her parents’ transformation into animals, however, worsens the situation.
The Shining is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Jack Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson, suffers from writer’s block and decides to accept a job at the Overlook Hotel in the Rocky Mountains in order to overcome it. But supernatural things in the hotel start to make him feel uneasy.
Justice League Snyder Cut
It may be nearly four hours long and contain numerous moments that you will have seen in the original, but the director’s cut of Justice League is still one of the most ambitious re-releases we have ever seen.
Expect a significantly darker tone than the original, as well as cameos from villains that weren’t included in the original cast, such as Darkseid and Jared Leto’s Joker.
