Google Pixelbook Go: Price, Design, and Everything Else to Know

The Pixelbook Go is a stylish 13.3-inch laptop with an understated, clean design. Google Pixelbook Go has made Google’s or else pricey product line more approachable to purchasers.

That makes it a welcoming addition to the lineup. Particularly for budget-conscious users who cannot afford the premium price of the Google Pixelbook.

The Google Pixelbook Go is available in four different configurations on the Google Store. For $649, you can get an entry-level model with the Intel Core m3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 64 GB SSD.

The Intel Core i5 model costs $849 and includes 8 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD. The Intel Core i5 model costs $999 and includes 16 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD. Finally, the Intel Core i7 model with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD costs $1,399 and is available with a 4K display.

Many low-cost Chromebooks are made of low-cost materials and thus have a cheap feel. The Google Pixelbook Go is far from cheap. An appealing magnesium shell defines the Chromebook’s profile.

The bottom is a ridged plate, while the top is flat metal with gently rounded corners. According to Google, the ridges are intended to make the Pixelbook Go easier to grasp and hold. Heat dissipation may also be considered in the design.

The Pixelbook Go includes top-firing speakers and a keyboard with comfortably spaced keys. Yes, they’re a little small and, as a result, a little tinny in the high end, but these speakers outperform the vast majority of laptops of this size, which usually have bottom-firing speakers.

However, Google did not include biometric log-in capability: the Pixelbook Go lacks a fingerprint sensor and an iris or face scanner. Given that many Chromebooks offer at least one of these solutions at this price point, it’s an obvious stumbling block.

In addition, Google claims to be relying on its Android phone unlocking feature, but this excludes anyone who does not have an Android phone.

Performance

The Pixelbook Go is a Chromebook, so don’t expect groundbreaking performance, especially with fanless Intel CPUs inside. While we can’t speak for the Intel Core m3 performance of the entry-level model, we can say that the Core i5 Y-series is more than adequate for basic tasks and even some light photo editing.

When we tested it, the Pixelbook Go review unit performed admirably. I’ve used a lot of slow Chromebooks in the past, and the Pixelbook Go felt fast and responsive in comparison. Apps opened quickly, multitasking was seamless, and the Chromebook responded immediately to all input.

Battery Life

Even better, the Google Pixelbook Go has an incredibly long battery life. Our local video playback test took a whopping 11 hours and 14 minutes to drain the Chromebook.

Professional reviewers are generally pleased with the Google Pixelbook Go’s battery life. With a reported battery life of around 11 hours, including video playback, this laptop consistently outperforms other laptops in this category.

If you need to rush to a meeting or presentation, you can charge the Google Pixelbook Pro for 20 minutes and get another two hours of use.
