Sweet Magnolias Season 3 Updates: Sheryl J. Anderson developed the American romantic series ‘Sweet Magnolias’ that is adapted from the same named novel series by Sherryl Woods. The series revolves around three women who are best friends since childhood.
Residing in South Carolina, they navigate through their personal struggles with familiar issues, romance, and career and also help each other in those struggles with their mutual care and the strong bond of friendship.
The three women are Maddie Townsend, Dana Sue Sullivan, and Helen Decatur. They call their friendship group “Sweet Magnolias”.
JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley play the roles of Maddie, Dana, and Helen respectively. Other cast members of the series include Justin Bruening, Chris Klein, Jamie Lynn Spears, Brandon Quinn, Logan Allen, Anneliese Judge, Carson Rowland, Michael May, Caroline Lagerfelt, etc.
The series premiered on May 19, 2020, on Netflix, and a second season aired on February 4, 2022. In May of this year, Netflix renewed the series for a third season. The filming is set to begin somewhere in the Summer of 2022.

One of the three friends of “Sweet Magnolias” Maddie Townsend, who is a mother of three children and is going through a divorce while trying to go back to the workforce, is played by American actress JoAnna García Swisher.
From 1994 to 1996 she played the main character of Sam in the horror anthology series ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’. From 2001 to 2007 she was cast as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery in the American sitcom ‘Reba’ starring Reba McEntire. In the role of Hope Swisher starred in the 2008 sitcom ‘Welcome to The Captain’.
In another comedy series ‘Privileged’ she played the main role of Megan Smith from 2008 to 2009. From 2010 to 2011 Swisher starred in the leading role of Mia Putney in the American sitcom ‘Better with You.
In NBC’s 2012 sitcom ‘Animal Practice’ she played the role of Dorothy Crane. In 2015 Swisher played one of the leading characters, Betty Grissom, in the American period drama series ‘The Astronaut Wives Club’.
In fantasy comedy series of high-concept angelic themes, she portrayed one of the main characters, Amy, from 2017 to 2018. In the 2021 Television film ‘As Luck Would Have It’ Swisher played Lindsey Johnson 2021.

Another friend of “Sweet Magnolias” Dana Sue Sullivan, owner and chef of the “Sullivan’s” restaurant, is played by American actress Brooke Elliott. From 2009 to 2014 Elliott played the role of main character lawyer Jane Bingum in the American legal fantasy comedy series ‘Drop Dead Diva’.
Apart from that she starred in minor roles in ‘Law & Order: Trial by Jury’, ‘Furst Born’, ‘Crazy Wonderful’, ‘And Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings’.
For starring in ‘Drop Dead Diva’ Elliott won a Gracie Award under the category of Female Rising Star in a Comedy Series in 2010 and a Women’s Image Network Awards for Best Actress Comedy Series in 2011.

Heather Headley:
The other friend of “Sweet Magnolias” Helen Decatur who is an accomplished attorney, is played by Trinidadian-born American actress and singer-songwriter Heather Headley.
From 2017 to 2019 Headley starred as the recurring character of Dr. Jamison in Spike Lee’s comedy series ‘She’s Gotta Have It which is adapted from the same named 1986 movie.
From 2018 to 2021 Headley starred as a guest star in Season three and season six of Matt Olmstead and Dick Wolf’s medical drama series ‘Chicago Med’ and as a recurring cast in season five and season six of the series.
The role that she played in ‘Chicago Med’ is Gwen Garrett. In 2019 Headley gave voice to Fikiri in the American animated series ‘The Lion Guard’ inspired by the 1994 Disney animated musical movie ‘The Lion King’. She also starred in the 2004 dance musical romantic movie ‘Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights in the role of Rosa Negra Singer.
The same year she starred as herself in the comedy film ‘Breakin’ All the Rules’. In 2021 Headley portrayed the 1940s and 1950s artistically and commercially successful American gospel singer Clara Mae Ward in Liesl Tommy’s American musical biographical movie ‘Respect’.
