The Duffer Brothers, the show’s creators, stated in a statement accompanied the announcement of the release date for Stranger Things 4: “We developed the whole Stranger Things plot arc seven years ago. We anticipated the plot would span four to five seasons back then.
We couldn’t fit it into four, but as you’ll soon see for yourself, we are rapidly approaching the end. Season 5 will be the last season, with Season 4 serving as the penultimate season.”
Fortunately for us, most of the main characters survived Season 4 and were present in the season’s concluding scene. In light of this, it is reasonable to anticipate that the majority, if not the whole, of the primary cast will return for Season 5.
Priah Ferguson (Erica), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Maya Hawke (Robin), Joe Keery (Steve), David Harbour (Hopper), and Winona Ryder are among the actors who play these characters. Finn Wolfhard plays Mike, Caleb McLaughlin plays Lucas, Gaten Matarazzo plays Dustin, Noah Schnapp plays Will, and Winona Ryder plays Hopper (Joyce).

The brothers have also stated in several interviews that the primary goal of Season 5 would be to debunk the Upside-Down narrative and finally address concerns that have persisted since Season 1.
The Duffer Brothers have also made it clear that while they don’t know exactly how this last season will pan out, they do know how it will finish.
While much of Season 5 is very fuzzy, the last 30 minutes of it are pretty distinct in our minds, as Ross stated, “it’s like that lighthouse blinking in the distance.” “So, if we can make the voyage enjoyable, I think we’ll have a satisfying conclusion. There will never be a solution that pleases everyone, but it should seem correct for this narrative.”
