Too Old for Fairy Tales: New 2022 Film and Cast Members Update

Too Old for Fairy Tales Update: It is more than half of the year and Netflix has not given us any moment of rest. Each month the streaming media is released one after another film. To be added to that never-ending list, a new Polish drama is waiting for its chance. Kristoffer Rus has directed the upcoming Polish film ‘Too Old for Fairy Tales’ whose Polish title is ‘Za duzy a bajki’.

The plot of the story revolves around a young boy named Waldek whose life is crowded with computer games. But when an unpredictable and crazy aunt comes to take care of him, Waldek gets introduced to discipline for the very first time. Though not very relaxed under her care, Waldek happens to learn a valuable life lesson.

The filming of the movie occurred entirely in Poland. In the character of Waldek Banas, we will see starring Maciej Karas. Other cast members in the film include Amelia Fijalkowska, Dorota Kolak, Patryk Siemek, Karolina Gruszka, Andrzej Grabowski some of which are pretty well-known faces in the field of Polish film and series. The film is set to release on July 18, 2022.

Karolina Gruszka as Teresa Banas:
Polish actress Karolina Gruszka has played the role of Teresa Banas in the upcoming film ‘Too Old for Fairy Tales. Nominated for Polish Film Awards under the category of Best Actress, Gruszka’s first notable acting was in the film ‘Keep Away from the Window’ in 2000 where she played the role of the adult version of Helusia.

The same year she also starred in ‘The Captain’s Daughter’ which is based on the same-named Russian novel where she portrayed the character of Masha Mironova. Next year she was cast in the action film Mikhail Ptashuk directed ‘In August 1944’.

Too Old for Fairy Tales

In David Lynch’s experimental film ‘Inland Empire’, Gruszka co-starred with Jeremy Irons and Laura Dern. In 2009 she starred in ‘3 Seasons in Hell’ which is about the takeover of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union.

In 2016 Gruszka portrayed the titular character of Marie Curie in ‘Marie Curie: The Courage of Knowledge’ which was screened in the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Her other films include ‘Ivan sun Amira’, ‘Salvation’, ‘Gullregn’ etc.

Andrzej Piotr Grabowski as Grandfather:
Polish actor and comedian Andrzej Piotr Grabowski has been seen in a number of films and series before. He is most notably known for his portrayal of Ferdynand Kiepski in the tv series ‘Swiat wedlug Kiepskich’. In 1995 Grabowski was cast in the Polish comedy movie ‘Colonel Kwiatkowski and in 1999 and 2002 respectively in ‘With Fire and Sword’ and ‘Day of the Wacko’.

In 2005 he played the role of Jacek Goc in the Polish action drama ‘Pitbull’. The next year he starred in Marek Koterski’s ‘We’re All Christs’. Two years after he was cast in ‘Little Moscow’ and the next year in ‘1939 Battle of Westerplatte’ as Adolf Petzelt.

In 2014 he starred in the Polish action movie ‘Secret Wars and the next year in the horror movie ‘Demon as the father of Zaneta. The latter film was screened at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. In the Polish crime movie ‘Spoor’, Grabowski was cast too. The next year he played the role of a public prosecutor in ‘The Plagues of Breslau’.

Grabowski starred in the sitcom ‘Swiat wedlug Kiepskich’ from 1999 till the present day. The other tv series in which he starred are ‘Tylko milosc’, ‘Pitbull’, ‘Odwróceni’, ‘Zlotopolecy’, ‘Spellbinder: Land of the Dragon Lord’ etc.

Dorota Kolak as Mariola:
Renowned Polish actress Dorota Kolak will also be seen in the upcoming movie ‘Too Old for Fairy Tales. She began her acting career with the role of Wanda Kreft in the Polish series Radio Romans’ from 1994 to 1995. In 1997 she was cast as zona Stimminga Polish film ‘Drugi brzeg’.

In 2004 Kolak played the role of Barbara Sykalska in the Polish heist comedy film ‘Vinci’. From 2004 to 2006 she played the role of Bozena Górska in the Polish series ‘Pensjonat pod, Roza’. In 2006 she starred in the film ‘Strajk- Die Heldin von Danzig’ and two years after that in ‘Londynczycy’. From 2007 to 2018 Kolak was cast in ‘Barwy szczescia’.

Agnieszka Dabrowska has written the script of the film with Michal Kosmala, Aleksandra Leszczynska, Mikolaj Pokromski, Anna Spisz, and Magdalena Ulejczyk as producers. The casting has been done by Katarzyna Gryciuk- Krzywda.
