Borgen- Power and Glory Update: Adam Price created the Danish political series ‘Borgen- Power & Glory’ which is an all-new stand-alone continuation of the popular Danish political tv series directed by Rumble Hammerich and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen.

This new season is also centered upon Birgitte Nyborg who this time is featured as Minister for Foreign Affairs. The series navigates significant political issues like the Danish Realm’s relevance in the modern political world, the battle to control the Arctic, and most importantly the climate crisis.

The power struggle for control of the Arctic begins after the inadvertent discovery of oil in Greenland. To deal with this issue Nyborg has to accept a number of times the fact that Denmark is a minor player in this political game.

The cast members of the series include Sidse Babett Knudsen, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Lucas Lynggaard, Mikkel Følsgaard, Søren Malling, Magnus Millang, Johanne Louise Schmidt, Lisbeth Wulff, Jens Albinus, Simon Bennebjerg, Özlem Saglanmak, Youssef Wayne Hvidtfeldt are some of the cast members of the series. The series premiered on April 14 in the Nordics and is set to release on June 2 internationally.

Occupied –

Climate change triggers a catastrophic hurricane that kills seven to eight hundred people in Norway causing immense economic and physical damage.

In response to NY Kraft, the green party of Norway is swept to power. Jesper Berg who is an idealistic prime minister determined to build a thorium-based nuclear power as an alternative to oil.

Henrik Mestad, Eldar Skar, Ane Dahl Torp, Ragnhild Gudbrandsen, Ingeborga Dapkūnaitê, Janne Heltberg are some of the cast members of the series. It ran from October 4, 2015 to January 2, 2020 on TV2.

Rita-

Christian Torpe created the Danish comedy series that revolves around the titular woman Rita Madsen who is an unconventional teacher of secondary education. According to Rita, she has chosen the profession in order to protect students from parents

. But as she assists the students in an unusual way, her own family and personal life also demand similar help. Mention a few of what she has to navigate in her family is her youngest son dealing with his emerging homosexuality and her older sons’ mishaps in their adult lives.

Mille Dinesen plays the role of the protagonist and titular Rita Madsen in the series. Other cast members include Lise Baastrup, Carsten Bjørnlund, Ellen Hillingsø etc. The series ran from February 9, 2012, to July 20, 2020, on TV2.

Designated Survivor-

David Guggenheim created this American political thriller series that revolves around a terrible explosion on the night of State of the Union destroying the Capitol Building and killing every one of the President’s succession line including the President.

But the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development whose name is Thomas Kirkman remains the only survivor. From that instance, he is referred to as the designated survivor.

Kiefer Sutherland plays the role of Thomas Kirkman in the series with Alex Kirkman, Aaron Shore, Emily Rhodes, Mike Ritter, Seth Wright, and Leo Kirkman as other cast members starring in other roles. The series ran from September 21, 2016, to June 7, 2019, on ABC from Season one to two and later on Netflix.

House of Cards –

Beau Willimon created this American political thriller series that is based on the same-named BBC series of 1990 adapted from the same-named novel of 1989 written by Michael Dobbs.

The plot of the series begins as President Garrett Walker has decided to appoint a Democratic congressman of South Carolina and House majority whip, a power-hungry man named Frank Underwood as the Secretary of State in return for which Underwood will support him.

But later Underwood finds out that President only wants to promote in Congress his agenda through him. Now Underwood develops an elaborate plan behind the back of the President despite maintaining his appearance as a loyal lieutenant.

The cast members of the series include Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Corey Stoll, Michael Kelly, Kristen Connolly, Sakina Jaffrey, Sandrine Holt, etc. The series ran from February 1, 2013, to November 2, 2018, on Netflix.

The Spy-

The plot of the series is set in a time when various incidents lead to the Six-Day War of Egypt, Israel, and Syria in 1967. Mossad spy Eli Cohen (Sacha Baron Cohen) is focused primarily on the series. The series premiered on September 6, 2019, on OCS in France and on Netflix internationally.
