Oppo Reno 7 is a good successor to Oppo Reno 6. This device is launched at a flagship price but lacks various features which a flagship device should have.

Design and Build of Oppo Reno 7:

The design of the Oppo Reno 7 is the main highlight. The device is carved out of metal housing. The back design of the Oppo Reno 7 is unique and feels premium. It is very sturdy too. The back of the device is made of metal and has a unique color gradient. The camera housing is also made of metal. The right side of the device has a power button, the left side has a volume controller.

The bottom of the device has a USB-C charging port along with speak grill and a sim ejector tool. The speaker grill design is not horizontal but rather unique. The top of the device just has a noise-canceling microphone. There is no headphone jack on the device.

Camera:

The Oppo Reno 7 has a triple-camera setup. The primary camera has a 50MP main camera lens with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. There is a 2MP macro lens too. The camera does perform excellent with proper optimization. It can zoom up to 20x digitally although there is no telephoto lens. The front camera of the device works perfectly. Although beautification on the front camera is turned on by default.

As far as photography is excellent the videography is not that great. The phone is able to record 4K, and 30FPS videos. But the dynamic range is not great. The dynamic range performs much better when an ultra-wide camera lens is used. There should be a 16MP ultra-wide and a 5MP macro lens, for the flagship price.

Display of Oppo Reno 7:

Oppo Reno 7 has a 6.4 inches 90Hz panel. This panel is the same as the one which was in the last generation of Reno, the Reno 6. The display is not too bright. Although in sunlight it is just visible. At the flagship price point, Oppo could have offered a 120Hz panel. The display of this device is not great, although at flagship much better phones have a better display.

The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor which is 6nm. It is a power-efficient chipset and is well-tuned with this device. The Reno 7 runs on Color OS 12, which runs on Android 11. There might be some bloatware out of the box. There are some extra features in the OS which might not be in use. The same OS was visible in the OnePlus 9RT.

Battery and Connectivity: Oppo Reno 7 has a 4500mAh battery which can charge with a 65W fast charger. The company has advertised that 0-100% battery in 35 minutes. The phone has all types of sensors. It has the support of Wi-Fi 6 along with Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC.

Final Verdict: Oppo Reno 7 is not a display-centric device and doesn’t perform well in videography too. There are various devices in this price range, which are much better than Oppo Reno 7, such as OnePlus Nord 2, OnePlus 9RT, etc.
