Borgen – Power & Glory Season 1, Borgen’s 4th season, finally arrives on Netflix and promises to be more fun than ever. As fans will well know, Borgen’s first series reported that, in contrast, young politician Birgitte Nyborg became Denmark’s first female prime minister.
However, she quickly fell into devastation, becoming a businessman and public speaker, before forming a new political party, the New Democrats. Now, in Burgen – Power & Glory, Birgitte accepts her role as foreign minister.
“Finally we start with Borgen again, and it’s definitely time,” said Sidse Babett Knudsen. “I’ve been looking forward to this moment so much that I feel like I’m about to explode. It’s a privilege to be able to ride the carousel again with my favorite character.”

Borgen – Power and Glory, faces the major political problems of our time; the importance of Denmark in the modern world, the great war of control of the Arctic – and not least, the problem of climate change. The main focus is on the struggle for power and what power does to people – both professionally and personally.
Birgitte Nyborg is the newly appointed foreign minister when a mining company suddenly discovered oil in Greenland. It is an event that marks the beginning of an international struggle for Arctic power, and one in which the most knowledgeable politician, Nyborg must repeatedly acknowledge that despite relations with his ‘big brother’ of Denmark and Greenland, when it comes to international power, Denmark is a minor player – and somehow uncontrollable!
The fourth series also looks at Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) who has resigned as Birgitte’s head of news and is now back in journalism and working as head of news for a major television station across the country.
Like Borgen’s previous series, Season 4 is dominated by Sidse Babett Knudsen as a staunch politician, mother, and concerned wife Birgitte Nyborg. Danish actress Sidse has continued to star in Westworld, The Accident, Ted Lasso, Inferno, and Roadkill.
Søren Malling, who plays the role of Torben Friis returns to the show alongside Signe Egholm Olsen and Mikael Birkkjær. Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Özlem Saglanmak, Simon Bennebjerg, Johanne Louise Schmidt and Magnus Milling also joined the Borgen cast for season 4.
Borgen: Power and Glory Season 1 will release on Netflix on 2nd June 2022.
