Thor: Love and Thunder – Who is Gorr the God Butcher?

Thor: Love and Thunder is the next big theatrical release after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and it will be the third standalone movie of Thor in MCU, the movie will feature a new character in MCU who is Gorr the God Butcher which role will be played by Christian Bale, who is famous for his titular role in Batman Trilogy by Christopher Nolan.

Who is Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder?

Well, if you are a Comics nerd already, you may know about Gorr the God Butcher who is one of the main supervillains of Thor, who appeared first in the comics named Thor: God of Thunder #1.

The Gorr grew on a planet that was almost abandoned by Gods, as earthquakes, plagues, and shortages of food and water were common on his planet.

Due to lack of water and food almost every tribe died on his planet yet his tribe was a big follower of gods and they had blind faith in them.

Due to certain reasons, Gorr’s family couldn’t survive in these conditions then Gorr started believing that God doesn’t exist and because of this, he was outcasted by his tribe. And these situations made his vow to kill every god in the Universe.

Later he acquired the powers of All-Black an Asgardian god, who was in combat with another god Knull on the same planet. Later he killed both All-Black and Knull and take their powers from them, and started hunting every god in the universe.

MCU’s take on Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder

As we have already the death of a God in the trailer and Zeus and Hercules has already been introduced in the trailer, we’re confirmed that Gorr will be introduced in the next trailer.

Although Thor has lost his interest in fighting for anyone and trying to establish his inner peace after losing almost everyone in his life. Alter we can see him in front of a dead big creature with Korg, who is a god and you may be familiar with the scene if you have read the comics.

There is a lot to discuss regarding Gorr the God Butcher, Let’s see how much back story MCU will tell us in Thor: Love and Thunder, and I think this character needs to stay longer in MCU as the depth in the character of Gorr and the actor who is playing him are the deadly combination and MCU will surely take advantage and will keep the character for few more projects.
