In a recent interview with SFX, Maya Hawke discusses the importance of LGBTQ+ inclusion ahead of the release of season four in May.
“I’m extremely excited to get the chance to voice Robin and live in that universe as an LGBTQ character whose identity isn’t necessarily an LGBTQ story,” she stated.
“It’s an adventure story, just like everyone else’s, and her queerness is just a part of who she is.” “It makes me feel very special.” There should be stories that investigate and express queerness and gayness, but there should also be gay characters and storylines that are sci-fi action adventures. That is extremely significant to me.”
Hawke also talked about the praise she’s had for her portrayal of Robin later in the interview.
“I try to remain as far away from the feedback loop as possible.” “I’m quite sensitive, and it really affects me when it’s awful,” she explained to the outlet.
