Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected to hit theatres in November 2022. Several delays in the development fueled rumors that Marvel may push the film’s release date to early 2023. However, it appears that filming has concluded and that the team is now proceeding to post-production.
The news that Marvel has completed production for Black Panther 2 emerged from an unexpected source, who teased an interesting appearance for Wakanda Forever.
Despite many people’s fears about what the franchise would do with the series without its beloved actor Chadwick Boseman, there still is a lot of excitement regarding the sequel. Since Boseman’s death, rumors about who will be the next figure to take over the role of the Black Panther have sparked discussion.
Who Will Be the Next Black Panther?
This question should not have been answered in Wakanda Forever, since it is the one in which MCU fans are the most interested. Because of Chadwick Boseman’s unexpected demise, Marvel had to change its plans for the sequel. T’Challa will not be changed for Wakanda Forever, the studio said months ago.
This hinted that someone else might take up the Black Panther identity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sparking conjecture about the next superhero to emerge from the technologically powerful African nation.
One option is Shuri (Letitia Wright). Shuri is T’Challa’s younger sister, she is the favorite to take over as leader. Shuri is the designer of her brother’s suits, as well as the primary inventor of Wakanda, directing the majority of the country’s technical accomplishments.
Shuri takes over as the next Black Panther in the comics after her brother is ambushed and wounded by Doctor Doom. While it may be too soon for Doom, something similar may occur in the sequel, compelling her to take the mantle even if she does not want to.
Another could be M’Baku (Winston Duke). M’Baku was charming because of his humor, fun, and warrior mentality, despite the fact that our encounter with him commenced with friction between him and T’Challa.
The first film provides the impression that the conflict between these two is founded on M’Baku’s contempt for Wakanda’s use of innovation and its willingness to share its important resource, Vibranium, with outsiders.
That tension may be at the heart of his rumored larger involvement in the upcoming film, but fandom and investigation can reveal that now the past between these two is far deeper. Marvel can always just come up with an alternative twist, but the Black Panther 2 cameo we’ll be looking at, isn’t going to be about that.
Will M’Baku Go Bad?
While there may be no current variants of this narrative in which M’Baku becomes the new owner of the Black Panther suit, there are however many in which he does succeed the throne. In one scenario, he takes on the role as T’Challa remains the Black Panther with The Avengers. In another scenario, M’Baku challenges King T’Challa, wins the battle against him, and earns his place on the throne.
This pushes T’Challa out of Wakanda and forces him to battle on the outskirts of civilization in order to reclaim control. Is it conceivable, after all, to convert M’Baku into a monster? His dislike of Shuri’s involvement has always been evident. Could he become bad/evil, challenge or capture her, and take over the kingdom? That would jeopardize Wakanda’s future, which always leaves room for a fantastic sequel.
T’Challa Will Always Be Boseman’s Legacy
Throughout his quiet yet valiant struggle with illness, Boseman filmed a few parts. As a result, Marvel has made the cinematic version of T’Challa a part of Boseman’s identity and his alone. The makers have come to the conclusion that T’challa will not be replaced by anyone else.
The Black Panther, on the other hand, will rise again. While it will be impossible for many to imagine anybody else playing the Black Panther, filmmaker Ryan Coogler feels that Chadwick Boseman would like him to continue his work. M’Baku will be an important person in the realm of Wakanda regardless of the path Marvel picks. Duke with his scene-stealing portrayal in the part made that a done deal.
Wakanda Forever
The official title of the sequel is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which suggests that the film would see Wakanda embrace its own power following the loss of its leader, T’Challa. Hopefully, the plot will prepare Winston Duke as well as the members of the ensemble to live up to Marvel fans’ lofty expectations for Wakanda’s future.
What we mean is that we believe we know who will be on the Wakanda Forever lineup. There are also no surprises. Several of the actors from the original Black Panther film are reprising their roles. Along with Shuri and M’Baku, we’ll see the return of Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Ramonda (Angela Bassett), & Okoye (Danai Gurira). Martin Freeman will also reprise his role as Everett Ross.
Not to forget, Marvel has confirmed at least one spectacular Black Widow cameo. Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, will remain in Wakanda indefinitely. Tenoch Huerta is rumored to play Namor in both the film and the MCU.
