The 2017 American medical drama ‘The Good Doctor is based on the South Korean series of the same name of 2013. The series centers upon a young surgeon living in a small city having autism and savant syndrome. Shaun Murphy also has a troubled past in his small hometown.

The plot opens with his relocating to the big city of San Jose, California. There he will join a prestigious hospital- San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. The series follows his struggle to cope with the big city environment with the complex people there.

Freddie Highmore stars as Dr. Shaun Murphy in the series. Other cast members of the series include Nicholas Gonzalez, Antonia Thomas, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Irene Keng, Hill Harper, etc.

This K-drama is created by Park Jae-bum and falls under the category of a medical romance comedy. The protagonist of the series Park Si-on was discovered to have savant syndrome of autism in his childhood.

The specialized care center where he was sent found out the genius-level memory and the extraordinary spatial skill of Si-on. Later he embarks upon the field of pediatric surgery. Despite the hostile attitude of people around him including his peers and patients who considered him unreliable and childlike for his autism, Si-on paved his way through all ups and downs.

Though he also comes across some sympathetic colleagues who support him like Cha Yoon-seo and Han Jin-wook. The hospital proves to be a fierce battleground for Si-on. And on top of that, he falls in love with fellow doctor Yoon-seo which makes things even more complicated.

Joo Won stars as the protagonist Park Si-on with Choi Ro-woon paling the part of the young Si-on. Other cast members are Moon Chae-won (Cha Yoon-seo), Joo Sang-wook, Kim Min-seo, etc. The series ran from August 5 to October 8 of 2013.
