Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Part 2 Must Watch Series After Part 2

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Part 2 series is being released on Paramount+, our Star Trek craze has once again been spurred. The series is set decades before the plot of ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ and revolves around the spaceship named Discovery.

The series opens with Commander Michael Burnham being reassigned to the USS Discovery where her recklessness becomes the reason for a war between the United Federation of Plantes and the Klingon Empire. USS Discover has a unique feature called the “Spore Drive”. Discovery helps in ending the Klingon war after having an adventure inside the Mirror Universe.

With Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, the series also stars Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Jason Isaacs, etc. ‘Star Trek: Discovery premiered on September 24, 2017. The series has been renewed for a fifth season in January of 2022 which will release in 2023. It won the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award.

As the Star Trek universe is all about space, we begin our list with a series where there is little about Earth and most about space, planets, and aliens. This American sci-fi TV Series is inspired by the novel ‘The Swiss Family Robinson’ and is a reboot of a series of the same name launched in 1965.

It is set in the year 2046 which is after two years of an event threatening the whole of humanity. According to the mission of an interstellar spacecraft called Resolute to carry twenty-four selected families to colonize the Alpha Centauri Planetary system, the Robinson family gets selected as the last group to go there. But when an alien robot breaches the hull of Resolute, the Robinson family among other colonists crash-land on a nearby habitable planet.

The plot focuses on their struggle to adjust to the planet’s environment while searching for their way back to Resolute as well as Will Robinson, the youngest Robinson son’s connection with the alien robot.

Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, Maxwell Jenkins, Taylor Russell, Mina Sandwell star as members of the Robinson family. The series ran on Netflix from April 13, 2018, to December 1, 2021.

The Orville-

This sci-fi comedy-drama is very much inspired by the Star Trek series and so deserves to be on the list. The series revolves around USS Orville (ECV-197) which is a mid-level exploratory vessel. The vessel is of an interstellar alliance of Earth and many other planets in the 25th century, the Planetary Union.

The plot of the show is jam-packed with the adventures of the crew of the ship which are most of the time encountering new planets and visiting unexplored parts of the galaxy.

Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes are some of the main cast members of the show. It was released on September 10, 2017, with the third season set to premiere on June 2, 2022.

Star Trek: Picard-

This Star Trek series is the successor of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ and thus is the eighth season of the franchise. The series opens with the year 2399 when twenty years have passed since the last appearance of Jean-Luc Picard, the former commander of USS Enterprise.

In this series, we find Picard deeply affected by the ruination of the planet Romulus (featured in the 2009 film Star Trek) and the death of Data (featured in the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis). Picard now is retired from Starfleet where he previously was an admiral.

He now lives in the vineyard of his family. But he is against embarking upon an adventure when Data’s apparent daughter visits her. She is one of the new sunteti brings called “synths”.

Patrick Stewart plays the role of Picard. The first season of the series premiered on January 23, 2020, with the second one and the third one set to release on March 3, 2022, and 2023 respectively.

The sci-fi drama opens with an unidentified flying object landing on Earth as a crystalline tower grows over it. United States Interstellar Command employed scientist Erik Wallace tries to communicate with the alien structure while his wife Niko Breckenridge who is a veteran captain of spaceship flies with the spaceship Salvare to contact the aliens who sent the artifact to Earth.

The Salvare travels faster than light and it takes its young crew asleep in hibernation pods so that they awake only when it’s necessary.

Katee Sackhoff and Justin Chatwin play the roles of astronaut Niko Breckenridge and scientist Erik Wallace respectively. The series premiered on Netflix on July 25, 2019.

This TV Series of America kicked off the great franchise of Star Trek and the cult that it creates which continues even today. The show ran from September 8, 1966, to June 3, 1969, on NBC. With a lot of nominations and several wins in its bag, ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ is still our favorite.
